How Many An-225s Exist?

Fri Dec 12, 2003 8:48 am

I saw UR-82060 and CCCP-82060 etc. Is this only one aircraft? Is Antonov planning to build more? Thx!

I think there is only 1, but correct me if I am wrong.

Correct... only one such example exists.

Only 1 An-225 is flying - it held the CCCP number when the USSR was one nation then took the UR registration after the break-up, reflecting its Ukrainian ownership. A second was abandoned during production but may now be completed.

Yup, as Trintocan said.......1 flying, and one was nearly complete when the USSR was broken up. I thought I read the 2nd was being stripped of parts to keep the one flying, but the hope was to also get it up and flying soon.

Yes 1 1/2 is more like the correct answer. It has been bounced around as either being stripped for spares or being readied for service. Does anyone actually know how complete this is, and are there any photos in existence... Or is this airframe like the 3 partly completer AN-124s that they have sitting around.

If there is only one then I just talked to the pilot and the plane is sitting at BGR.

Last i heard there was one flying and one partly-built, and some yahoos wanted to complete the second thus making it 2 operational Antonov 225s. Would be cool to have another one of those fucken huge aircrafts round!

HS-748, just like a 747 but better!
