When Does AirTran Launch DCA Service?

Sat Dec 13, 2003 2:08 am

I was checking flights to DCA on Expedia in early March and some AirTran options came up. I knew AirTran was starting in DCA but didn't know exactly when. Have they launched service already or are they going to soon? And what part of the airport will they be in?
"Lose" is not spelled with two o's!!!!

They started on October 23rd or 24th (don't remember exact date).
They are in the concourse B.

Actually, we are in good old Concourse A, gates 1 and 9. We started service on October 23rd and we have 3 flights a day to ATL, one to RSW, and one to PBI.

I've heard thru some credible FL sources that they are looking at CAK-DCA flights as well....

The DCA-PBI flight replaced the DCA-FLL flight.

Airtran has applied to the DOT for two slots to serve CAK-DCA once daily. They are competing with USAirways (DCA-ILM) and Delta (DCA-LEX) for the two slots. The DOT should be making its decision soon.

Once daily hardly seems worth it. How do you attract the business traveller from CLE, like they've done with the CAK-LGA service? I guess it's one of those "at least get the slot, then worry about expanding" issues...
