Duo Airways, Excellent Company

Sun Dec 14, 2003 10:00 am

i know this belongs to trip reports, but i reckon more people will read this. i shall try to post one soon. seeing it is my first post it may seem as blatant advert but i just had my first flight on duo, the sell-out maersk. and it was THE BEST i've had in years. i've flown alot on both sas and ba, econ and business, but their service can hardly compare to duo. check-in - smooth. but the best was the flight, cloth napkins, proper glasses, tea and coffee served in porcelain. food on proper hardware, have not seen that intra-european in the last couple of years. champagne just after we were airborne and unlimited drink service. leather seats. dinner wasn't excellent but that changes from every destination.

and the best was it was so incredably cheap. for all of you who brag about AA, BA, UA, etc... try this and i think you will never fly anything else as long as duo flies to the same destiantion. i can't wait until my next flight which will be later this month. i flew EDI-OSL. i think i have told everyone i have met about the airline. i was so impressed.

I've heard very good things about them. From reading their website their service looks very impressive, more like business class than economy.

''and the best was it was so incredably cheap''

49 pounds one way? Try Hapag Lloyd Express, starts at a more normal 19 euro's incl tax one way, has leather seats, super check-in, and perfect service. No free meal or drink service, but be normal, who needs that on a 1.5 hour flight anyway?

I was impressed with the AMS-BHX service when it was still Maersk/BA, got a hot breakfast on this short flight, while BA mainline only has a sandwich on flights of this length. Pity thex axed Amsterdam but when Duo reconsiders returning to AMS (because MyTravelLite has ditched it, so there is no overcapacity any more) I'd love to fly them.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

thats the excellent part of them. they are, but everything i low-cost compared to their prices. i was so amazed that a company like that exists today.

It certainly is nice to see a company going for a high quality full service product, rather than following the trend of most airlines and cutting all the frills, while still being able to offer reasonable prices.

when the only other companies who remotely will fly you that route takes more than 5 hours, edi-ams-osl, edi-lhr-osl, edi-cph-osl and robs you of in excess of £200 pounds its a good deal. i'm not willing to put my life on the others. but for everyone on this site using a business product, or econ for that sake on a regualr basis, persistently cries out about how service has dropped so considerably, then this airline is a breath of fresh air for relatively low price. (note-relatively, but that is really relative)

It's very good to see that Duo are offering both competitive fares and very good service. I was looking at their website the other day and was amazed at the sort of service they're offering for the price.

Best of luck to them...

Its a shame they dont seem to be doing very well, with pax numbers not into double figures on some flights, with various flights being cancelled due to lack of demand...but maybe things will pick up.
