Good News For Berne BRN

Mon Dec 15, 2003 4:23 am

Hello

Berne, Switzerland will see two new airlines and routes as of next year.

On January 5th Amadeus Flugdienst opens a route to Dusseldorf and flies with a Cessna 421.

In March HahnAir opens the routes from Berne to Dusseldorf and to Brussels (probably with a Swearingen Metroliner).

Regards,
RJ100

BTW: There are no Swiss airlines serving Berne, only Intersky (Austria), Air Alps (Austria), Lufthansa (Germany), now HahnAir (Germany) and Amadeus Flugdienst (Germany) !!!

Amadeus Flugdienst has two "famous" employees, Thorsten Mache and Oliver A. Heinz, also known as the airline managers of the year 2001 and 2002: Two failed start-ups as "BerlinJet", I really do not believe that this time it's getting much better.

Hahn Air will base two Saab 340s.

More news to come soon ...

When did any swiss airline ( I assume it would have been SWISS) stop serving Berne and from where?

Does swiss still have ANY domestic flights besides GVA - ZRH ?

Yup, Swiss still flies to Basel and to Lugano with the Jumbolino. I don't know if GVA-BSL is still operated.

Hello all

SWISS stopped flying to Berne this year, with the beginning of the winter schedule.

The SWISS network out of Berne included flights to Basel (4x daily), Lugano (2x daily), Paris CDG (2x daily) and also Brussels.

Today the SWISS domestic network includes ZRH-GVA (Airbus and Avros, I think 8 times daily), ZRH-BSL (1x daily Embraer-145) and ZRH-Lugano (4x daily with Avros).

However, GVA-LUG is now operated by Baboo Airways (3x daily) and GVA-BSL is now operated with Club Airways (2x daily).

Club airways? Never heard of them... Does anyone know when Baboo is going to fly to the other destinations mentioned on its website?

Club Airways is a business class airline only, flying from Geneva to Basel, London, Paris, Milan and Cannes.

They have plans to expand on GVA-Moscow, GVA-MUC, GVA-DUS, BSL-MUC, BSL-DUS and BSL-LCY.

These guys are clever  Big grin

@Scf158: You have to be a member of the airline, which costs you 1500EUR (or 15000EUR for a company).

Fares for GVA-BSL are CHF540 oneway or CHF890 roundtrip.

Cheers,

Baboo is currently looking thinking about a second aircraft to serve new routes. They are planning to expand their route network next spring. They're probably going after leisure destinations out of GVA.

No plans for BRN/ZRH/BSL, as far as I know...

Nice little airline with great people. I wish them all the best!

Wow! Club airways aint so cheap!

But clever indeed...

I hope baboo makes it. It would be awesome to fly on a low fare airline besides easyjets few unexciting routes!

Do any of you Swiss people know the significance of the name Baboo? It still strikes me as very odd, does it have any connection to Swiss culture?

@RiverVisualNYC
what I found out what Baboo is (from their website)
"Flybaboo SA (hereafter "Flybaboo"), a Swiss Company, and Cirrus Airlines Luftfahrtgesellschaft mbH (hereafter "Cirrus"), a German company, are working together to carry passengers on regional commercial routes. All flights are operated by Cirrus.

Cirrus is a duly authorized German air carrier, operating under the supervision of the German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt. Cirrus is duly authorized by the competent Swiss authority, the Federal Office for Civil Aviation, to operate flights in Switzerland.

These Special Conditions of Carriage apply to all flights, in addition to the Conditions of Carriage of Cirrus. All provisions provided for in the present Special Conditions of Carriage prevail over the Conditions of Carriage of Cirrus."

hope this helps a little bit, but why they have choosen this name I have no clue  Wink/being sarcastic

Jumbolino.
Kind Regards, Jutta.

One question regarding Air Alps.. i know they are partner of Alitalia and they have several domestic flights: Bolzano-Rome, Parma-Rome, Bologna-Lamezia Terme, Rimini-Roma. Is this company Austrian at 100%? I tought there were some Italian investors inside. Thank You.

Hello VCE

The shareholders of Air Alps are the following:

90% Alpen-Air consortium (Austria ?)
7% Südtiroler Transportstrukturen AG (Italy)
3% Bereinigungs-und Finanzierungsgesellschaft (Austria?)

So yes, there are Italian investors at Air Alps!
