Qantas Questions....

Wed Jan 12, 2000 6:58 am

I would like to know more about Qantas. Exactly how many aircraft do they operate. How many do they have on order? What are their future plans and how are they going to deal with Richard Branson's invasion? Hoping that Craig Murray is out there!!!!

RE: Qantas Questions....

Wed Jan 12, 2000 9:00 am

Qantas and it's wholly owned subsidiares, namely Southern Australia, serving Victoria, Tasmania, ACT and New South Wales, Eastern Australia, serving New South Wales, and ACT, and Sunstate, serving Queensland, own approximately 120 aircraft. They consist of (approximately) 2 747-SP, 4 747-238, 6 747-338, 20 747-438, 1 747-48E, 2 747-4H6, 21 767-338ER, 7 767-238ER, 16 737-376 and 22 737-476. The smaller airlines mentioned above operate a mixture of BAe 146-100/200's, Dash 8's and Shorts 360's. I am not really sure, but I think Qantas only have 1 aircraft on order, and that is a 747-438, which is due for delivery in March. Qantas are also considering purchasing a 300 seater (A340 or 777), but there are no definite orders for these types. As of yet, Qantas have not really made any clear statements regarding Virgin Australia. Hope this helps. If you need any more information, just ask.
