London Heathrow Question

Mon Dec 15, 2003 7:45 am

Hi...my friend was flying JFK-LHR-KWI-BOM last night on KU 102 but the JFK-LHR flight got cancelled because the KU B 777 had some big probs at LHR.

So then she was put on a UA 904 flight to LHR from JFK to connect with the delayed KU 102 dep LHR 1055am (scheduled) for KWI. However the KU 102 flight alongwith other flights from LHR were all delayed and KU departed instead at 1630...6 hrs late and I heard that an incoming PIA flight from KHI PK 787 I think was diverted to MAN from LHR.

Can someone please tell me what is going on at LHR right now as it seems that even the evening European flights to BRU-FRA-OSLO-CPH etc are all delayed by 2-3 hrs. Whats the cause for all these delays?

Any input shall be extremely appreciated.
Thanks  Smile

Strange, I haven't heard of any delays, and I haven't seen any fog today but it has been pretty windy so it may be down to fog or the wind.

Some thing definitely has to be affecting LHR delays and cancellations on Dec 14th as literally all flights are affected. Go check http://www.baa.com and see for yourself !!!

Isnt there any LHR based employee or someone close to LHR on this forum who can fill me and the others in on this wierdness that is taking place.

The delays last Wed were due to LHR being on low vis procedures all day as a result of the fog which caused major delays to arrivals and departures (there was a thread about it but I can't find it now). I'm at work tomorrow so will try to find out what the problem was.

Cheers

It's a typical winter in London, you don't expect everything to go smoothly do you? Sunday morning was VERY windy. What's worse is the wind was going from north to south, so it's competely cross the runway's at LHR. I'm not sure if this was the cause, but it's usually something to do with weather that screws everything up for the airlines.

BA @ LHR will start changing flights to some EU-destinations as from summer schedule, or at least the BRU flights.

last week i was trapped in the low vis at LHR and my flt got cancelled. lets face it; LHR is sooo congested that if someone farts the wrong way everything gets stuck... Laugh out loud
