United Shuttle Aircraft In DTW

Mon Dec 15, 2003 9:37 am

Does anyone know why United uses their Shuttle aircraft on DTW-ORD UA1293?

I flew on it, not intentionally, I needed to catch an early flight home and that flight was available. Not only did the 733 have Shuttle titles, it had no Economy Plus section.

I thought that the Shuttle fleet was flying on the West Coast???

To add on to LH747...the aircraft are operating mainline services and havent been repainted into regular UA colors...there's at least 3 different Shuttle liveries floating around out there there...

How many time is this going to come up? It the same as you may end up on a TED plane, its not flying but in the colors. We see TED and Shuttle planes in SFO all the time!

We get UA Shuttle liveries into DSM frequently, on their ORD and DEN flights. As stated, the Shuttle per se is gone, but the planes have simply been moved into the mainline operations, w/o benefit of repaint yet.

I flew ORD-ROC on Friday in a -300 Shuttle (gray with arched 'Shuttle'). First time I've seen a Shuttle in ROC and I was on it.The shuttle 737's do not have ovens or drink carts or E+.

GRR also gets them quite often from ORD. Just part of the regular rotation.
