YYZ Next T1 New Trial Dates ...

Wed Dec 17, 2003 7:51 am

The next two trials at YYZ's new terminal have been announced. They are looking for 1800 people for the first, and 2000 for the second trial. These are obviously very large scale, as the last one was hectic already, and it had only a few hundred or so people show up. Should be interesting to see how well it goes.

Here's the link: http://www.gtaa.com/airportvolunteer

The dates are Saturday January 24th and Saturday February 21st, from 9am to 2pm.

Here's the big question ... will we get to board an aircraft? (I know the answer  Big thumbs up)

I'm going just to get community service hours.... And we will not be boarding a plane becuase it will be way to expensive for the conservative GTAA...... Hope again Nuno!

LH423, it's not that much fun, it's alright. Some people hate it, others really enjoy it. In the past trials, they have always fallen short of the number of people they wanted, so I wonder if they have changed anything this time in order to get more people who sign up to actually show up.

Hmm, how about a little... entertainement?

Suggestions?

I signed up for Saturday the 24th. See you guys there! I hope I can play with the bridges. Haven't done that since Canjet in YOW. Lotsa fun, but watch for those 737 pitots! Yeech!

Entertainment? For airplane geeks? Just telling them that aircraft will be sitting at the gate will get about 500 people to show!  Smile

I signed up for both days, and should be able to make both as well. Now, it clearly says that photographs for personal use are allowed. Tisk tisk to some of you who've posted pictures online.

Oh, and don't bring in anything that shouldn't go through security. I thought I was going to lose my Swiss Army Knife last time!

Sorry, you need a license to "play with the bridges." I will have to find an extra-curricular activity for myself while I'm there.

Will the mysterious man in a cape be there this time? You know who you are! You know you want to go.

That stuff about not posting pictures on the Net was ridiculous. I went to the public Open House the following weekend and had a more leisurely look at the place. There were no restrictions on photography so I posted a bunch on MyAviation as I didn't think they were suitable for A.net.

What do you mean you need a license!?

You don't in Ottawa. You need for someone to show you; you have to be careful, but a license? You gotta be kidding me... I'll bet you need a type endorsement to work the numeric door pads as well!?

Martinair, we're talking about the telescopic passenger gangways used to connect the pax from the airplane to the terminal.

A license... pfff... pax users of GTAA, your ldg fees hard at work!  Wink/being sarcastic

LOL, I was just saying that to discourage this minor from wanting to drive the bridges! You don't need a license I'm sure, but you need some sort of training ... something that you have, and I have not.  Smile

If the airport bar is open, I'm TOTALLY there!

If not, I'll come and conceal a mickey (or 2 or 3) in my carry-on.

Anyone in? There's nothing like drinking @ 9am on a Saturday. Trust me.

I will be there of course both two days. MartinairYYZ, i've already gotten 17 hours just by going there THREE TIMES! I have brought my friends as well and they say it is an excellent way to get those com. hours. Free breakfast, lunch, talking away to people.. a great way to get 5, 6, 7 hours even!

I submitted my request. Hopefully I'm in.
As for the entertainment, Cessnapimp - You wouldn't be thinking of the kind suggested by our friendly blue surburban officer dude, would you? Somehow, it just wouldn't seem like fun visiting an establishment of local talent if I knew he was in there.
And what's all this talk about community service hours? You guys criminals or something???  Laugh out loud

See y'all there!

I think you need a licence in BOS at the IAB...either that or some certificate proving you've passed jetway training.

Nonetheless, Captaingomes, I could think of a lot worse ways to pass an afternoon that to try out a brand-new airport before it opens. I had the honour of taking part in the first trials for Terminal E in BOS...although I was on the employee side of things...be interesting to see it from a passenger point of view.
