Everett & Boeing Field - Are They Very Busy?

Thu Dec 18, 2003 2:09 am

I have never visited Everett and Boeing field but would like to do so in the future.

Are they very busy? Are there a lot of flight test that come and go every weekday?

Is it the kind of situation where you might sit for an hour and only see 4 or 5 arrivals or departures?

Living 2 miles from PAE (where the widebody plant is located) and living underneath the flight pattern, I can say that there is a lot of small, private aircraft flying in and out, as there is also a flight school there. If you were to stay there for 4-5 hours at PAE, you would see a lot of Cessnas and the like. Everyone once in a while I do see larger aircraft taking off, but for some reason it's not very common. I did have the fortunate experience once of being near the tour center, and watching a QF744 approach 16R, and then accelerate at the last minute, turn right towards Puget Sound, fly south, and then turn and land on 34L.

When you come to Everett, email me and I can provide more directions/advice.

Re: BFI...it's a lot more active, and has a lot of bizjet activity, as well as private aircraft, and Airborne, et. al. also flies in there. I've also seen a lot of 737's fly in there as well. If you're going to spend a few hours spotting, BFI is definitely your better bet, and closer to downtown Seattle.

And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

Boeing has a bunch of cargo going through in the morning and that is also where the private jets are kept. I have flown in there 3 times, i think. What was really cool was there was a Gulfstream 5 in front of me and a falcon behind me of take off. That was intense, esspecially because I was in a Cessna 172.

4 or 5 movements an hour is enough traffic, I'd think.

Paine Field can be very quiet. I've sat there for hours and seen only small airplanes. But when something big does go in or out of PAE, it'll probably be pretty darned cool.

You can ask Flytecomm to give you all arrivals for PAE today, and see the kind of scheduled traffic it gets.
But that was when I ruled the world
