While checking the news sources here, I came accorss this interesting tidbit:
Local Airport Renamed Bob Hope Airport
BURBANK — Burbank Airport will be renamed in honor of the late comedian Bob Hope today in a ceremony coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight.
The name change was unanimously approved by the city councils of Burbank, Pasadena and Glendale in November.
Hope, who spent six decades flying around the globe to entertain servicemen and women and kept a private plane at Burbank Airport, died at his Toluca Lake home on July 27 at the age of 100.
The 10 a.m. ceremony at the airport, attended by members of the Hope family, will include a fly-over of World War II
aircraft, according to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority.
The public can watch the event from the top of the airport's parking structure, the Airport Authority's Victor Gill said.
