Why this was happening...

The captain of this aircraft was making his last flight before retirement following nearly 40 years flying - and what a memorable day on which to retire. The Airport Fire Service seen here given him an appropriate send off. Previous Reg: SE-DNA

They gave my great uncle the same type of thing when he retired from American after about 35 years. Started in the DC-6 and finished in the 727. Pretty wide rane of flying.

I myself was a passenger on a DL 764 that was received in ATL by a couple of fire trucks, this was the captain´s last flight for DL after thirty something years...this was on April 30th, 2003.

Proud to work for Embraer FLL!

A water cannon salute. It's a lovely gesture, and it's also a tradition.
