Departure/Arrival Door Annoucements

Fri Dec 19, 2003 8:32 am

Hi this post is for any Flight Attendant out there. I'm just curious to what annoucements the lead F/A makes for other airlines for the departure/door arrival annoucements. At Continental Micronesia, our line is "Flight Attendants prepare doors for departure, cross-check and verify straps for all-call" Or for arriving flights it's "Flight Attendants prepare doors for arrival, cross-check and verify straps for all-call" So if there is any F/As out there im interested in hearing what you have to say.

Thanks Again!!!!!!

In Europe, they say "Doors to Manual" when taxiing to the gate and "Doors to Automatic" when leaving the gate. This basically sets the door so that when they are on manual, when the door opens, the escape chute does not automatically inflate. Vice versa, when putting them onto automatic, this means that whenever the door is opened, the chute will inflate.

For the French speakers amongst you.......Air Inter's PA was as follows "Attention PNC, a vos postes, armez les toboggans, verifiez vos vis a vis et rendez compte" (Translated- "Attention, cabin crew to your positions, arm slides, cross check & report back")
AF at the time was similar "PNC a vos postes, passez les selecteurs des portes en automatique et verifiez vos vis a vis" ("cabin crew to your positions, place mode selectors in automatic and cross check").....not sure if this is still the same....I'm talking over 10 years ago for AF.....

At AA...

"Flight attendants, prepare for departure and cross check, please." (said by the purser/#1)

"Flight Attendants, prepare for arrival and cross check, please." (said by the FO).

Flight attendants with cross check responsibilities are to report back to the purser/#1 via the interphone.

It can vary in the same country between carriers or even within carriers in the UK

e.g at Excel on B738 "cabin crew prepare the doors for departure/arrival please"

at Excel on B757/767 acft leased from Air Atlanta on their operating rules
"cabin crew doors to automatic/manual, cross check and report please"

commands given immediately by Purser/SCCM on doors closing prior to pushback, and then immediately after the seat belt signs have been switched off - after arrival.

First officer "Doors to Manual (744) Disarmed (A343/346) and cross check, passengers please remain seated"
