Why Not 736 And A318 Business Jets

Considering they are more appropriately sized than the larger 737-700/800 and A319 ones, why did'nt Boeing and Airbus offer these as such, any plans to?

I think it has something to do with the maximum range of the aircraft. I believe The 737-600 and A318 have a limited range. So that's my guess why they don't offer them as a business jet.

In the bigger is better world of bizjets, why make a bizjet based on your smallest airliner, when the slightly bigger one works just as well if not better.

Plus I suppose the higher marginal operating costs for the 737-600 and A318 also trickle down to the bizjet as well. If it costs about the same to operate the bigger plane, why go with the smaller one?

Businessliner or Executiveliner sounds much more appropriate, there is no comparison between the small BJ's and proper airliner's being offered as one.

So its something like choosing a used Mercedes over some brand new car thats not a prestigious make but has the same price tag.

Anyone thinking about paying $30,000,000 for a business jet is going to want NY-to-Tokyo nonstop range. The Boeing BBJ stuffs extra tankage to accomplish this.

The business jet version of the 717 is really being sold as a "corporate shuttle" with more seats (e.g. 50 to 75) running shorter routes.
