Swiss MD-11, JFK-ZRH?

Sat Dec 20, 2003 12:01 pm

I am flying to Zurich in early January from JFK and my ticket reads I am to fly an A340-300. I recently checked both Expedia and Swiss.com and see that my flight is to be operated with an MD11.

What is the MD11 like in Swiss Economy?

The 343 starts plying the ZRH-JFK route on Jan 10 '04 (6x a week). Until then, I think they have recently substituted the 332 with the MD11 on that route...The config in Y on the MD11 is 3-4-2, no PTVs, seats and legroom are decent. Not as nice as on the new 343s but still worth it considering the increasingly few passenger MD11s flying around.

That route is just like the ZRH-ORD....you never really know what your flying on till you get to the airport....maybe the A343, MD-11, A332. All very nice aircraft from SWISS. They take care of there aircraft nicely and the interiors are AWSOME. They know how to take care of a passanger IMO (THATS JUST MY OPINION) i recently walk aboard a SWISS MD-11 to talk to the crew about there final fuel load at ORD and stopped in amazement at how nice the interior was. Enjoy your ride im sure you will like it no matter what equipment your on.

Have a look at the seatmap yourself (http://www.swiss.com/web/IE6/sw-oc-fl-md-11)

I'd prefer the A340 in terms of convenience but as Panamair said, the MD-11 of Swiss International will soon be history...
