Different Security Procedures Now?

Mon Dec 22, 2003 6:38 am

I'm flying from GSP to FRA on Tues 12/23/03 and returning 12/28/03. With the US security level raised, what will that mean as far as security procedures at the airport?

I've travelled internationall twice since 9/11, but never during a heightened security alert. Thanks!
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

You should be fine. Just remember to be bare bones when you go into security. Make sure everything is in your carry on or checked luggage. Wear tennis shoes. Put all jewlery ect in your carry on and run it into the X-ray machine. Pockets empty.

The biggest pain is that at the Orange level some airlines discontinue online checkin -- opting instead to eyeball all passengers as they check in. I would guess that starting tonight some bags are going to start missing planes as luggage screening will take longer.  Sad

It will be the same inconsistent operation it has been, just more power trips at various airports!

I've flown during "Code Orange" many times--nothing different. And I've used online check-in as well. The only obvious difference was that parking at the airport was more restrictive and more vehicles were subjected to cursory searches.
