What Was The Last Meal You Had On A Flight?

Mon Dec 22, 2003 8:12 am

Just out of curiosity, what was the last meal (if any) you had on a flight? What airline, how good/bad, etc. Any comments would be appreciated

MSP-ANC on NW

Pasta w/Melted Cheese and Sausage, Dinner Roll, Oreos, Water

The pasta was actually quite tasty, but the roll was old and stale.

CLE - LAS on Continental

Chicken patty = thumbs up, actually pretty good. Served on a rye roll (!!).
Salad = bad lettuce
Water cup

Can't remember what else I had, but it was a pretty good free meal!!

Cold meal, salmon with potato salad and vegetables. Didn't taste that good, but it was eatable.

Continental --> EWR-ZRH

Dinner:
Chicken with some rice - not that good, small portion

Breakfast:
Small fruit salad and a croissant - lousy, again portion was too small

I found it an outrage that they almost starve you on a 7.30 hour flight, when I payed more than 1000 Sfr. for the ticket.

I recently flew First Class from ORD-MIA (S80) and MIA-DFW (757) on AA. Both flights were "lunch" flights. I was surprised to find on both flight segments, that only "cold" entrée options were offered in First Class. Normally on domestic flights, there is one hot entrée, and one cold entrée option. I also noticed that the meal portions are getting smaller and smaller in First Class, and the selections rather disappointing. Overall, I was not impressed.

On NZ in October WLG to CHC return. Since Express Class has been introuduced on the Domestic flights all the Domestic fleet have no business class seats anymore. The 'meal' was a snack. Small cup of milk, Afghan biscuit(which was very nice, so much that I was thinking of asking the flight attendent if I could please have any more Afghans!), small container of water and tea/coffee (optional). Near the end of the flight a child comes around the aircraft with a basket of lollies(the basket is full) and you can have some lollies.

Lets see, last flight with meal was BA297, LHR-ORD in coach.

Lunch, served an hour after departure was a chicken with rice dish, dinner roll and cream puffs drizzled with chocolate syrup for dessert. Very tastey meal, even if the chicken dish looked like it came out of a frozen foods package. Other choice was a roast beef dish. I also had white wine with my meal. About 2 hours before landing we also had cold sandwiches (chicken I believe). BA really knows how to feed you on a flight, even in coach.

Delta flight DL12 ATL-LGW dinner was a horrible rubbery beef casserole, wattery mashed potatoes and a limp salad. Very disappointed as I usually find Delta meals to be ok. Sandwiches available for purchase on shorter internal flights are pretty good though!

For a fore-noon snack on a 2-hour flight over S2 into DEL, we had lime juice, mango juice, water, unknown veggie sandwich, chicken tikkas, potato something, spinach quiche, gulab jamuns and coffee. Mints and tamarind balls for digestive.

Big Burp, no need for lunch.

sorry it's blurry

The "Dairy Milk" container is Cadbury's Ice Cream (yum), and then there's the pasta, salad, grapes, cheese, rolls, and crackers. a pretty good meal overall  Smile

November 21
UAL 805 SFO-HKG

United economy
Lunch-
Salad and some unknown sandwich.

Snack-
Chips

Which is one of the few things that I hate about United economy/economy plus is that there is one type of snack for a 12-14hr flight. Because I'm premier and b/c I didn't get upgraded they gave me candy but on all other flights its peanuts and that's it. To me I want to get all of the people sitting in the back thinking about how much longer they have to wait until the next meal is going to come (which is normally 4-6 hrs apart) and take them with me to raid first class and steal all of their food after about the first hour. If you've flown business or first class there is normally a tray with different types of snacks and meals to add water to. But the service is still great.

Dinner-
Beef with beans and little whole potatoes with a salad.

November 31
UAL 806 HKG-SFO

United business-

30 minutes after take off-
Shrimp with orange juice

Lunch-
Sleeping but it smelt good

Dinner-
Pasta with either a salad or soup or both

Snacks-
ahhhhhhh the tray. I have to say their selection was great. Lay's chips, little bags of peanuts, jelly bellies, and whatever those small triangle chocolates are.

I also had to pay $9(us) for some additional candy which is kind of a rip off seeing that the additional candy was free in business.

Besides the coke and Cape Cod pretzels on my last flight from DCA to ATL on DL, on a DL DFW-BOS (738) there was a snack consisting of:
Salad w/grilled chicken
A few grapes
Knott's Butter Cookie w/Jam
Crackers and Tillamook cheddar
all served in a convenient plastic carton
Portions were small, but the taste didn't disappoint.

9/11/03 DL312 FLL-ATL
bag of pretzals and an OJ (my favorite brand of pretzals)

pretty good, considering there was no other IFE onboard (they were getting a new system installed or something)!

but nothing compared to a first class breakfast i had on that route only 4 or 5 years earlier!

My last meal a couple of weeks ago on Aeroflot - Moscow to New York:

There was also smoked salmon with cream cheese and desert, but forgot to take pictures of them.

Hmmm....that was good....

mmmmmm........Im really hungry right now

here was the last time they served me a Meal on a plane....

CO 10/20/03 LAS-IAH

 Sad  Sad
went back 2 LAS on 11/28, only served a Muffin with a Full can of Coke  Yeah sure
Return LAS-IAH, heck we left 1:30AM everybody was sleeping, we did not get anything

I am going back to LAS on the 31st for New Years and for a mileage run hopefully I get a decent meal a bit better than what you see here...

btw, the reason i went to LAS so many times (i.e. 10/16-10/20, 11/28-12/1)
they were for buliding up them OnePass miles

p.s. I had better food on a Continental Flight before  Sad ....damn, I wish I could have that Cheeseburger w/Dorito chips they served me on IAH-LGA-IAH in 2002!!!! mmmmm........I am really really hungry right now

That was a sandwich on a SK flight ARN-GOT. Surprisingly it wasn't as good as it use to be. The bread was a bit burned and dry.

Best food ever was on a LH flight BCN-FRA. I can't remember what it was but it was great.

I have flown EasyJet quite a lot in the past few weeks and the sectors are too short, so I don't eat anything. Before this though I did return from a short visit to my favourite airport - Arrecife and the meal was beef stew.

I found it looked and smelt like dog food, but was really nice actually. The carrier responsible for this culinary delight was Air 2000, now First Choice. Go to www.carsurvey.org to look up my observations.

Last meal was last Tuesday morning in upgraded FC on Northwest 1072 flying MSP-BWI. We had been put up overnight at the Park Inn in Bloomington, Minnesota when our connecting flight took off before our SFO-MSP flight landed and were given generous meal vouchers which we used the next morning. When luncheon was served aboard the plane, we weren't hungry. So the overstuffed beef and chedder on a rustic roll with side salad and iced carrot cake got returned to the galley with only nibbles taken.

Absolutely no reflection on the meal, but you can only eat so many in one day.  Smile

December 10, 2003 on NW 51 FRA-DTW A330. The meals weren't very good. It was the old beef or pasta choice. I guess the PTV's made it worth it.

However we did have some good ice cream with the meal and a mini pizza as a snack before arrival. Both were pretty tasty.

Snack served on this relatively short flight: Turkey Sandwich, a small apple, and some cookies. I ended up eating two sandwiches after giving my apple and cookies to the woman sitting next to me.

Air France on Thursday, CDG - CVG, economy class. It was excellent.

Starter: Foie Gras Medallion on a salad bed.
Main: Smoked Salmon Ravioli.
Cheeses
Cake and fruit.
Fresh bread served from a basket!!

After the last couple of flights with them I'm having to recinsider my opinion of Air France - these have been among the best flights I've ever had!

Last meals I had were on 18/10/03 on First Air YOW-YFB-YOW...all economy seating.

Breakfast - Salsa omlette, sausage, hash browns, fruit salad, carrot muffin, crackers and orange juice.

Dinner - Arctic char fish, rice, cooked vegtables, coleslaw, carrot cake, pop, complimentary red wine and after dinner fruit flavoured candies.

Hot towels are served before each meal on 7F's jet routes...again this is Y class, not F.

Both meals were excellent.

Just prior to that flew BA, LGW-BLQ-LGW and were served an excellent sandwich and danish pastry lunch.

Virgin Atlantic VS023 LHR-LAX 16 December

Lunch/Dinner- Lovely vegetable curry with an utterly adorable little chapati, cheese and crackers, some water ( dont like alcohol on long hauls), nice small salad, some cadburys chocolate pudding, small piece of choccie, tea, nice roll with butter

Snack- some interesting cold quiche wedge that theyve taken to serving in the last few years that is just way too salty

Pre-Arrival- A rather nice little filled sandwich, only I cant remember what the filling was. There must have been something else on that tray, only I cant remember what it was. Nice enough though, im always quite pleased with the VS food

I would also like to note that the portions on VS have also gotten smaller in the past 7 years that ive been flying them- i just realised the other day that the Brandy/Baileys service that usd to come around the cabin has disappeared, as has the second round of tea/coffee and the crew coming around periodically with water/juice ( get your own service now) and the ice cream during the movies ( well not that i was especially bothered by that anyway- it was a nice touch). Wonder what the cost savings are on that, but now their service has almost dimished to the average, and given that they tend to charge more for their flights, its a bit disappointing.

The main feature was cold cut turkey sandwiches. They were very good. I know it has been awhile since I have recieved a meal on a plane, however the longest route I've flown since that was STL-PHX.
