Is The A300/A310 Still In Production?

Wed Dec 24, 2003 8:11 pm

Do airbus still accept any orders for these aircraft types? or is production finished?

Still building A300s (freighters) for UPS and Air Hong Kong, and UPS still hold options that could keep A300s rolling out of TLS for some time to come. I believe that the A310 is technically still available if some airline really wants to order it.

Andy is right.

There are still UPS A300 freighters on order. And if some airline want an A300 or A310 pax version they will build it... Just a matter of price Big grin

Sorry for the plug, but this one shows a "new" A300F fuselage section.

The production line is still open...if an airline wants to order some A300/A310, it can get some. Especially the A300 : The Freighter version is still in Airbus "catalog" and some few airplanes are to be delivered shortly.

Don't think any passenger companies will buy them though when there are things like the A330/A340 out there now!!!

All the airlines tend to want to get rid of their A300/A310's these days, isn't the 767 a better type?

Is the 300/310 build on a separate line? It would surprise me if Airbus kept a facility open but idle just waiting for an order to come in. It could be European labor-friendly laws that make it hard to shut any operation down. Seems like Boeing is much more draconian --and perhaps efficient-- in this regard. If there are no orders, the line is shut and assets reallocated where there is demand.

I'd love any insights here -- real business facts, not Airbus promo please.

The 767 and the A300/A310 are planes of a similar vintage. There's no reason to replace one with the other so late in the game for both.
