As a scheduled flight?

Maybe the Lufthansa (operated by Privatair) BBJ or A319.

Depends, there are lots of GA a/c that can make the flight over the pond. GlobalExpress, G-IV, GV, and I think a Challenger can. Obviously the BBJ can. For airlines, the B-757-200 series does it every night. For airline size a/c I'm not sure what smaller a/c could sustain a non-stop pond hopping.

My flight instructor had ferried several Mooneys across the Atlantic on delivery flights from the factories- he had some interesting stories about how it was done.

In the late 50's, Max Conrad flew a PA-24 Comanche from Miami to Casblanca...about 7200 sm...it had extra tanks, but what the heck....that's a small aircraft...and Hugh Hefner's "Big Bunny" Playboy DC9 regularly flew over the Atlantic back in the late 60's-70's. For purely commercial sched svc, I doubt anything smaller than a 757 wd be feasible...

The smallest scheduled or charter flights with economy seating across the pond are on 752's. In the last 10-15 years, Royal 722/Transwede M83 have been used on TA charters with refueling in KEF, SNN or BGR. Icelandair recently operated KEF-YHZ with the 734 for several years.

Across the Pacific....would have to be the 763. AC, QF, ANZ all operate transpac 763s (or at least have done). The QZ/ANZ 763's stop at HNL. AC operates YVR-PEK/KIX/ICN with the 763 depending on the time of year.

UA operates NRT-HNL 763 service.

I think the smallest airplanes that fly transatlantic routes non-stop are probably small business jets that have at least 3,000 nautical mile range. I've heard that Cessna Citation X's frequently fly between New York City area airports and Western Europe non-stop.

The smallest planes that fly transpacific routes non-stop--especially from San Francisco and Los Angeles area airports--are probably Gulfstream V and Bombardier Global Express business jets (they can easily fly SFO or LAX to Japanese airports non-stop).

Far from it. Air Pacific of Fiji operates 737s on the YVR-HNL-NAN

Hmmm...that's more "to the Pacific" than across it.  Big grin

I thought I saw years ago an article in Airways Mag or Airliners World about Icelandair using a 737-400 from Iceland and even serving FLL. I'm wanting to say it made a stop at either New Foundland or BWI. That was years ago, but I'm guessing it would've had to make a stop. I wonder if they're even still using them?  Big thumbs up

You beat me to it!

I imagine with the proper amount of fuel and a long-enough take-off run, there are lots of GA aircraft that could make it...
