Sat Dec 27, 2003 8:43 pm

Does anyone know the last aircraft to wear it and when it was finaly painted into the current livery?????

While we're on this topic does anyone know the last aircraft to wear it for any of their individual a/c types eg. the last B737 in their fleet to be painted! but i'd like the last OVERALL aircraft more

I think it would have been one of the ATP aircraft. Not 100% on that.

Carduelis, isn't that the list of aircraft in the Union Jack or world tails, not the landor and the current one ?

Yes, totally correct, but if you look through the listings you will find 'Landor' - and 'Union flag'

@Hoons: "UK Image" is the Union Jack, "Other Utopia" is World Tail. "Number in service" minus "UK Image" minus "Other Utopia" should be the number of Landor aircraft, or am I wrong?

OK, thanks. I didn't look at the list too closely...

If my calculation from above is correct, then there are only four aircraft left in Landor livery: three ATPs (which won't be painted in new colours because they will be stood down in April) and one Loganair Islander (which won't be painted in new BA colours because Loganair is no longer BA franchise).

Do you guys prefer Landor scheme or the current BA Union jack livery ?

I missed the landor livery especially on the 777 and 747-400 . Absolutely stunning .

Ndebele,
Lognair are continuing as a BA franchise operator.

They are removing their Twin Otter and Islander operations from the BA brand. However BA operations with the Saab340 will continue, and from 1 March 2004 they will take over the leases on 5 BAE ATPs from CitiExpress, along with associated routes to operate under the BA brand. This is a 5 year agreement, using the remaining ATP aircraft until at least March 2005, so it is possible some will be repainted...

Oh, I have seen photos of an Islander in ex-BA-colours but now with Loganair titles, so i thought the whole partnership between Loganair and British Airways would be discontinued. Thanks for clearing that up, Crosswind!

Ndebele, it was a reasonable assumption,

Reading between the lines I think BA didn't want their name on aircraft like the Twin Otter, and the Scottish people who make up most of the passengers on these aircraft identify more with Loganair than British Airways.

There's a press release about it on their website if you're interested...

Crosswind, and to anyone else who's interested...

The Loganair colours are appearing back on Islanders because British Airways deem them "unsafe" for some reason or another and so they would prefer it if their brand did not appear on that particular aircraft.

I haven't heard anything about the Twin Otters being repainted though.

"Unsafe" ha. They'v been around for quite a while now but it wouldn't fly if it was unsafe, and those aircraft still perfectly fit those routes they do even today,

True, I question BA's reasoning for this. The Islanders do the job they're meant for. Westray to Papa Westray anyone? I wonder what the cruise altitude is...  Big grin

BA's fleet looked sweet in the Landor "speed stripe" livery. I have mixed feelings on their new livery. It kinda reminds me of Virgin Atlantic for some strange reason. Not too bad looking though. Did they ever paint one of the DC-10's in the new livery before they got turned into soda cans?

The DC-10's were long gone before BA introduced the latest Union flag livery.
