Longest Flight Operated By A B737?

Sat Dec 27, 2003 9:27 pm

What is the longest flight operated by a B737 (except 737BJ) ?
I think it's COPA from Panama, flying non stop to Buenos Aires (EZE).

i do believe the alaska anc-ord is the longest at 2849miles. their sea-mia flight comes in second at 2772, then the ewr-sfo and hnl-vancouver flights at around 2600.

It would have to be Lufthansa/PrivatAirs route from Germany to North America, using the Boeing 73NG.

Even though Aloha's SNA-HNL route is not the longest it's definitely one of the longest overwater.

To COPA Airlines (CM) definitely correspond three of the longest flights in the world operated by 737, in this specific case, 737-700 with winglets.

Those routes are non-stop fights from the Hub of the Americas in Panamas to EZE, GRU, LAX. SCL is a pretty long run also.

I believe that Virgin Blue holds the record for the 737 Longest flight and it was during the delivery of one of the -700 that Flew from Honolulu to somewhere close to Melbourne in Victoria, Australia but it was not a schedule flight.

I flew on Continental, B738 Newark-San Jose (Costa Rica), it took 5h30.
I know they fly with a B737-700 from Newark to Panama which is longer.

My bet stays with Alaska's Anchorage to O'hare- it's over seven hours. What about their new run to Denver, starting in June? Denver- a hot-n-high airport... a seven hour flight... in June... on a 73G. Sheesh! Can someone tell us how many miles den-anc is?

Astraeus operate a weekly oil-charter with a 737-700 from LGW to Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) which is around 7hrs I believe. Not sure of the distance but must be in the region of 3000nm.

The weekly oil charter from LGW to Malabo by Astraeus is quite long.
And over Sahara Desert, it's like an ETOPS flight for a B737-700 !!

I believe that WN's longest 737 flight is LAX-BWI using the 737-700. Small wonder why WN wants winglets on the 73G--it will reduce fuel burn by 4% on such a long flight.

The longest 737 flight I've been on was SEA-EWR.

To answer someone's question from above, the distance from ANC to DEN is appx 2375 miles.

Euralair, was flying as a charter flight CDG-DKR (Dakar, Senegal) with a B738, non-stop (6 hours).

Now Air Senegal International operates twice DAILY between Dakar and Paris Orly with a B737-700, non stop.

Well, how about going Jakarta - Guangzhou on a 737-400! 4hrs on a 737 classic over water... Batavia is seeking an NG to go on this route... for obvious reasons... 1800NM ! Not something I'd like to do everyday thanks... 4hrs on a 734 with 170 seats! Yucks!

I see on the Austrian Airlines fly from Vienna to Maldive via Dubai on B737 600 operated by LAUDA AIR. It's really impressive nonsense because the route is usualli flown by charther operator with direct flight on more confortabele Wide bodies.

AA swaps between a 757 and 737 on its SAN-BOS run. Flying westbound the total flight time is right around 6.5 hours.

How come this topic pops up at least once a month?

HNL-GUM is the Island hopper operating GUM-TKK-PNI-KSA-KWA-MAJ-HNL..

BUT HNL-MAJ is 5 Hours and JON (Johnson Island is now closed for business)

so AQ is operating a -700 HNL-KWA at 5:15. Lots of overwater.. Smile

I believe VSGirl is right. The longest schedule route for a 737 is probably the LH flight between EWR-MUC at 4,058 miles.

I believe that Astraeus-UK charter airline-holds the crown. LGW-Malabo,Equatorial Guinea. Flight time of 7 hrs 15 mins. They also one of if not THE 737 with the highest utalisation in the world over summer.

Facts, according to amadeus:

Dusseldorf-Chicago (Privatair/LH 737 BBJ, sometimes A319 CJ): 9 hrs 55 mins
Munich-Newark (Privatair/LH 737 BBJ): 9 hrs 35 mins
Buenos Aires-Panama (CM 737-700): 7hrs 20mins
Chicago-Anchorage (AS 737-700): 6hrs 52mins

LH/Privatair wins  Wink/being sarcastic

PS: I looked up flight times rather than mileage as in another post I got criticised that mileage from great circle calculator is not an indication of REAL range. Note that all times are for westbound flights

I believe one of the longest routes is the one operated by Copa Airlines from Panama to Buenos Aires e Panama to Quito, on a normal 2 class configuration non special performance plane as Privatair operates for LH over the pond.
I'm not sure about the mileage for those routes though!!

Longest Flight Operated By A B737?

This won't be THE longest flight, but it is among the longest.

I have flown Alaska Airlines from DCA to SEA and back on several occasions. I think that might be a few miles longer than SFO-EWR.

No info

Well many of you have put about the LH/Privatair flights which are operated on the BBJ and airgabon did say "except 737BJ" but it is acctually the Astraeus 737-700 LGW-Malabo at just over 3300 NM 7 hours 15. It does officailly hold the "longest regular 737 flight" record.

I've flown EWR-PVR (puerto Vallarta) on CO, and that was 5 hours. The great circle mapper checks the mileage in at 2287 miles. Pretty long!

Although not scheduled service, there is an article in Air & Space (I think) about a BBJ flight that took it around the world. The last leg was Tokyo - Denver - non-stop!

757lgw,

thanks for that info. I had indeed overlooked the "except 737BJ" part of the question. The title then goes to Astraeus - and again I have to admit to an omission. Since I thought that it was more of a charter flight, I had not bothered looking it up on OAG. Well, now I did and it's in there.

Shame on me, who always tries to be fact-based  Innocent

Alaska Airlines -- SEA to MIA -- 2722 miles

According to Expedia, Aloha now flies to Raratonga (Cook Islands) via a stopover in Pago Pago (American Samoa). So, HNL to PPG is 2612 miles. The YVR to HNL flight on Aloha Airlines mentioned above is 2706 miles.

Polynesian Airlines flies a 738 from HNL to Apia (Western Samoa) at 2706 miles. Continental Micronesia flies a 738 from HNL to Majuro (Marshall Islands) at 2281 miles.

MIA-SEA on AS seems to be the longest flight between the lower 48 states, next is possibly BOS-LAX, which is just 100 miles shorter on an AA 738.
