Student Internship With The Ntsb

Wed Dec 31, 2003 7:09 am

I recently came across this and thought that several members of a.net might be interested in this internship program.

The description of the position is:

Interns will work under the direction of an NTSB aviation accident investigator and assist them in conducting selected accident/incident investigations. This includes assisting in the on-scene portion of the investigation as well as conducting the post-accident research needed to develop the accident sequence of events and proposed probable cause of the accident. Interns will also write preliminary accident reports and assist in writing final factual reports and briefs. A copy of the Position Description for a Student Volunteer can be found on the NTSB web site.

More information can be found at http://www.ntsb.gov/vacancies/AirSafety.htm

I recently answered a question on the non-Av forum regarding how a college student should go about getting their first job. I can't think of a better opportunity for some interested in aviation to get their foot in the door to a variety of career tracks than having this on their resume. Not only that, think of all the connections you can make.

Several people from my school have done this internship. It's one of the lesser demanded ones, compared to airlines, but it is still extremely competitive.
