Just wondering if anyone has been on a flight that everything was just fine and all of a sudden the aircraft made a sudden change in altitude or direction due to a near-miss? Also what did the pilots say on the intercom after the incident?????
I'm not sure if this was a near miss or not but it did startle me! I was in C class on LH FRA-ORD. I was gazing out of the window as always and saw a USAirforce KC-10 zoom by with a sharp angle away from us. It was very disconcerting.
On final approach to JFK in dense fog about 100 feet off the ground- Pilot innitiated a go-around as he had spotted an aircraft on our runway that had failed to clear itself due to an engine fire. Very scary, very close call. Pilot was audibly angry at ATC. You could tell by the way he spoke to the passengers in his explanation. One of the two scariest moments I have had in an aircraft.
I was in a close call over Nebraska, it was 1988 and i was flying from MDW to LAS on Midway, I sat in the window seat, and i look out the the window and i notice a Continental DC-9 closing in fast, Suddenly we start to climb and the Pilot said that we had to avoid another plane. Very Very scary.
I was about maybe 7 years old at the time, and i only remember this becuase My grandfather, who loved aviation more then i do always told the story
