MD11 Flightdeck - Question

Thu Jan 01, 2004 7:41 am

In the photo depicted below it appears as if there is some sort of barrier or partition between the back of the captain's seat and the observer in the jumpseat.

Why is this and is it standard on all MD11s. I cannot think of any other large aircraft that have anything similar

Hmmm.. I don't see a barrier or partition...
Caution wake turbulence, you are following a heavy jet.

To me it looks like you are seeing the window jam on the opposite side of the cockpit.

I don't think there is any sort of barrier there either. The sun is shining on the arms of the 3rd pilot. Appears to be from the front window.

For goodness sake you are right. Its an optical illusion. Those side windows on the DC10/MD11 are HUGE.. thats for sure.. must be a gret view for the Jumpseater'

Correct, there is no barrier aft of the capt. seat. The jumpseat is directly behind it, it is a great view, priceless.

Its the side of the window on the other side that makes it look like a divider.
