Eagle flies to a ton of caribbean islands. THe second most frequent north american airline service is US Airways. They (US Airways) fly to GCM, MBJ
, STT, STX, ANU
, SKB, UVF, GND, BGI SXM
and La Romana. I wonder if DL
can compete with that easily. I think too much carriers are going to overwelm the market here, and no one will make money and all will pull out. The region is doing fine with AA
and US alone. THey both make money. Eagle is on a gold mine, the ATR's are cheap to operate. US Airways uses the A319 to most islands under normal circumstances, the A320 and 757 on peak times. THe A319 is perfect for most islands like GND. THey are easy to fill. ANd a full 120 passengers on a A319 on a 4.5 hour trip, I think the airline does ok.
Eagle flies to SLU, that is a small airport in the city. It cannot handle bigger jets, but most regional and turboprop service goes to SLU. UVF (Hewanorra Int't) is in the south of the island very far from the city, but that is where all the international traffic flies to.
There is something special about planes....
