Hotels @ LHR Offering Best Viewing...

Sat Jan 03, 2004 9:03 pm

Which hotel(s) at LHR offer the best possibility of viewing the movements?

The Renaissance on Bath Road is by far the best.

Are there any specific rooms which are better than others?

Hi james,

I would say the Renaissance Hotel, on the Bath Road. Right on the runway, opposite T1. Great views, just ask for an airport view room!

The ones on the runway side... Big grin

Just try not to get put into the lowest levels - but they're usually quite accomodating: I always put in a special request at the time of booking: I sent the message "Runway View and High Level if possible" with the booking... worked every time.

Actually, for a while they even had a special room rate for spotters - don't know if they still do, though...

Yes, I agree
The Renaissance has the best rooms, right in front of the runway.
I stayed several times there, and you wont be dissapointed!

Make sure that you ask for a room facing the Runway
If for some reason the hotel is fully booked, I would reccomend
the Sheraton Skyline wich is also on bath road.

enjoy your stay!

Best regards,

Ams, isn't the Sheraton on the other side of Bath Road? Or am I confusing it with another hotel? Have you been there (and photographed from it)? Good views?

If you manage to get anything on Bath Road you'll be alright. There is also the 'Holiday Inn', but The Renaissance is your best bet.

The Sheraton Skyline is on the other side of the road, you see more of the road and traffic than planes.

The Skyline only has very limited views from a very few rooms. The Holiday Inn is OK but you only get to see the Western end of 09L/27R and only from the executive rooms. I agree that the Renaissance is by far the best - the high level rooms are now all Club rooms for which you have to pay a supplement, even on the plane spotter's package. Also, in my experience they don't always allocate runway view rooms even on the plane spotting package so be prepared to stand your ground at reception and insist on getting one!

Leskova,

Yes the Sheraton Skyline is on the other side of the road, however
if you get a room on the higher floors you still can get a good vieuw!

Also at the Hilton Hotel at Terminal 4, you can get some good vieuw
over terminal 4!

The Renaissance offer a day room, (9am-6pm) on a sunday for £60, special spotting room with excellent views.

I like it...I've got a brick wall to try to break and maybe I'll come.... Except I'd probably stay at a Hilton or Starwood hotel in the City..Maybe move to the Renaissance for one night.
