How To Get To Ibiza, San Antonio, Spain?

Sun Jan 04, 2004 11:54 am

I am planning to go to Ibiza this coming summer, and I was wondering if someone could give me some travel tips for cheaper flights and accomodations there. If you know any travel deals / packages from the US would be great, if not - from Europe would work too.

Thank you so much in advance.

VS11,

If you get as far as Dublin, you can try Budget Travel´s packages to Ibiza, they´re quite cheap and they use charter planes at course but if you get FUTURA you wont notice the difference from a normal airline.
So anyway, if you get as far as Dublin, give me a shout and I´ll help you...

There will be scheduled flights with bmibaby from EMA, & probably from MAN by then too. Try the bmi service to MAN from either IAD or ORD........

VS11,

Well Ibiza´s a spanish island so there´s only one airport (IBZ).
Islands near by are Mallorca (PMI) and Menorca (MAH). Hope it helps and remember i´ll be here if you need my help.

Depends when you are planning to go.
Ibiza pretty much shuts down end October through to Mid April.

If you are going May / June, then get yourself as far as the UK or Eire, and pop into a travel agent and get a last - minute deal. Have a look on the web before you go.
Package deals were very cheap last summer. (Good year for consumers, crap for my company!) Deals for 2 weeks with accom were going for between 100 and 150 per person, including accom. and a flight from London.
Don't bother with a package from the US. can't see how it could be cheaper.
So much competition in the UK and Eire for packages to Ibiza, in fact to all of the Balearics. For example, if I remember right, Britannia were doing approx 135 flights per week to Majorca. That's a lot of seats to sell and there will be flights most days of the week, so I would not worry about leaving late. As long as you are a bit flexible, you will be fine.
If you want to stay longer, have a look and compare the flight only prices. The holiday companies need to sell the seats on the plane so much, that the accom+flight package prices can be similar to the flight only. If you want to stay for more than 2 weeks, we had loads of people booking a package to "start off" and then finding a cheap apartment to base themselves in whilst they party all summer long.

You will love Ibiza. Great sunsets, great beaches, great nightlife.  Acting devilish

Worldoftui, thank you so much!

I am planning on mid to end of June but unfortunately I can only spare one week. The prices that you mention are really quite a bargain, I wish the dollar was stronger as those transatlantic flights do not come cheap either but I definitely want to go to Ibiza. I have been listening to the CafeDelMar CDs for years now...

Thanx again,

If you get to Manchester.
air2000 have 3 weekly MAN-IBZ flights which are charter flights that can be booked online. Prices in June are approx £30 one-way exclding tax. Since it is ticketless travel, booking from the USA won't be an issue.

There is, of course, the option of going on IB then connecting in MAD, the advantage being you could prob get a good deal with the codeshares they have in the US with American.

I think your best option would be united or Lufthansa because assuming you
are travelling from JFK, fares start from about USD400.00 plus tax

Although UA and LH do not fly to Ibiza, they will either offer a codeshare
or some other interline carrier to get you to ibiza

From Stansted, easyJet operate to IBZ, and from LGW I believe BA/GB Airways operate to IBZ.

Surely there is some sort of connection between Madrid and Ibiza between US / JKK or IB. Im pretty sure that Iberia fly to Chicago and there definetley will be a connection through to Ibiza, and there must be some code share from the US flight from PHL with Spanair!!

I just recommend booking everything EARLY! Ive seen the mayhem and tried to get on some of those IBZ flights from the UK and its insane the later you leave it and the later in the summer.

Also, isnt it possible to fly somewhere close in Spain and then take a ferry over?

I agree with everyone else. Get to the Uk and then just book a cheap package holiday or charter flight. A good site to give you guidlines for charter flight prices is http://www.flightline.co.uk. (not a flashy site I know, but it gives good prices etc...)

Another option is if you can get to the midlands ThomsonFly (owned by the same people as Britannia Airways) are starting up a new low-cost airline out of Coventry (CVT). (about 15 miles from Birmingham BHX). For a week at the end of June they are currently showing prices about £45 (yes... just £45!!!!). Would also be a great experience as Coventry airport currently has no passenger terminal and at the moment they're throwing together temporary pax facilities for ThomsonFly's start in April!!! Could be interesting!!! http://www.thomsonfly.com

Hope this helps

The BA/GB Airways LGW-IBZ flights are currently on sale for £99 at www.ba.com for departures up to 15 June 2004, the flights only operate Thursday to Sunday.

The ferry website is http://balearia.net/eng/index_balearia.htm.

I think LH codeshare with Condor from Germany to IBZ.

There are many www.airberlin.com flights from Germany to IBZ and from PMI to IBZ.

www.hotelscomparison.com is an interesting accommodation website.

The big clubs do not open until mid June, so perhaps wait until the end of June.
