Delayed UA815 From 3 Jan

Tue Jan 06, 2004 7:36 am

Hello A.netters

This flight was renamed as UA9786 and was delayed 24 hours. Does anyone know why ??? What will happen to this 744 when it gets to Sydney ?
Maybe go back to LAX as UA9785 ?

Many thanks

The only information I could find was limited but it looks like the crew is working back flt. 9785 on 06Jan. I assume the aircraft they used to do SYD-MEL-SYD had a mechanical or something.

The crew's trip looks like this:
LAXSYD 0046-0908 48:30 layover (late pushback from LAX)
SYDMEL 0938-1116 01:28 layover (scheduled is usually half this)
MELSYD 1244-1400 51:15 layover (scheduled is usually half this)
SYDLAX 1715-1140

It looks as though the crew took a rolling delay through the evening of the 5th into the 6th which usually indicates a mechanical. This is also the week where the flight numbers all change to Australia for some unknown reason.

4 engines= 2 more things to break down. Maybe someday UA will buy the 772LR. Until then there's plenty of job security for the mechanics on the 744.

The debate continues... Starwood or Hyatt... which is better
