PTV In First Row

Wed Jan 07, 2004 5:08 am

I was wondering on airlines that have PTV in economy what happens to the people in the front row that do not have a head rest, do they get a portable PTV or do they just get the extra leg room and no PTV's.

It stows down and flush with the seat. After take off, just hit the release button an pull up.

On all airlines I've flown they have a fold out PTV located in the armrest.

The PTV's are attached to the seat underneath, you simply turn and pull the system out and it spreads out in front of you. That's how it is on BA and a lot of other airlines

On both SAA and Qantas 744's, PTV's in the bulkhead economy class seats are stowed in the armrests. Like in business class seats.

In the first rows in Ecomomy in a LH A340, the PTVs were not folded away.
There was a "general" viewing screen ahead of those rows.
I don't remember whether you could choose the channels there, but I don't think so.

But hey, extra leg room kicks a**. For me at least, I'm tall.

I don't think Lufthansa has PTV's. I believe on some airlines like Jetblue, the PTV is actually located ON the bulkhead.

I flew the NW 330 and sat in the first row in coach at the bulkhead. I preferred the TV folding out of the armrest rather than in the back of the seat. It seemed I could see it better because there were so many adjustment options.

On the return trip I sat in a regular seat. I'm 6'2", and when the person in front of me leaned back it seemed that I couldn't adjust the TV upwards enough to see it clearly.

F9W is right, there are no PTVs in Economy class on Lufthansa A340s.
