' character Steve McCroskey has got to be one of the funniest roles he's ever done (although his role in Hot Shots!
is similarly funny). Looks like he picked the wrong week to stop __________! (his most memorable quote.)
That inflatable autopilot stole the whole show, as well as the many subplots associated with flying in genral. I also liked the line, "There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?"
It's odd that such a spoof of disaster films ended up being such a successful box office hit, but leave it to a good cast and some great scriptwriting to get it done. My only complaint today is that much of the dialog and comedy seem seriously dated by today. BTW Look for a young David Leisure
(that guy who did the Isuzu commercials for all those years) as one of the Hare Krishnas!
The only time an aircraft has too much fuel is when it is on fire.
