I fly BA
regularly...they are my preferred carrier. I can't say I've got any complaints - quite the opposite in fact! I've taken around 30 BA
flights in the last year, most longhaul World Traveller Plus, but also several shorthaul Euro Traveller. Can't recall any major gripes (or from any previous years).
I've never flown to CPT
but on longhaul in WT
you can expect a reasonably comfortable seat with a 31" pitch (on a 744 which I assume they operate to CPT
it should be 3-4-3...in World Traveller Plus it's 2-4-2 with 38" pitch). You get 12 channels on the PTV (18 in WTP) - a couple of kids ones, some comedy ones, a moving map and several films (mostly recent). You can check this out in advance at:
you usually get a beverage service after take-off then the meal service with the option of a second drink. Food (the first/main meal) is generally pretty good for economy - decent size too. Reasonable range of on-plane Duty Free if that interests you. High Life magazine is usually worth a read the first time each month.
I think BA
's shorthaul product is great - a lot of flights now cost only marginally more than LCCs but you still get a paper when you board and they've just upgraded the 'All Day Deli' so you get a "packed lunch" style meal which has a hot sandwich/panini and usually a yoghurt + muffin or similar. Again, free drinks too. The seats (usually 31" again on most a/c) are now all (or certainly all the ones I've seen) the Club Europe leather style seats (but with the middle one included unlike in Club Europe itself)...I find them very comfortable. Easily my favourite shorthaul cabin. (NB
I don't know if all of this applies to UK Domestic and MAN
is a very short hop anyway).
Both shorthaul and longhaul I find the crews generally friendly, helpful and courteous - happy to answer questions, etc. If you're nice to them, they're nice back
One final word - if you're flying discount fares only, you won't be able to join the Executive Club any more. But if any of your 4 economy fares are qualifying (Y/B/H from memory), might be worth joining before you go so you can at least pick up a few miles (25% on discount fares, 100% on qualifying fares) but also use on-line check-in 24hrs before the flight to try and get the seat you want.
