Air Canada A330: PTVs In Hospitality (Y)?

Thu Jan 08, 2004 4:21 am

I've always been curious about this...

I recall reading that Air Canada intended to install PTVs in Economy Class when it received its Airbus A330 equipment. However, instead, as seen in this picture here, where seatback video screens would normally be located, there is simply some cloth from the seat.

Does anyone know why Air Canada did this (money, perhaps), as well as if they have ever considered installing PTVs in these seats?

Thanks, Derek

What happened is Air Canada was going to get them but instead to save money they did not. When you are sitting on the 330 you will see a part where they were supposed to go.

I would think that is costing Air Canada money. If I had a choice to fly an Airline with ptv's or without I would go on the one with even if its a little more money.

As far as I know Air Canada is the only airline not to have PTV on their transatlantic flights (except NWA and that will change when they take delivery of their A330)

And Air CAnada is suppose to be one of the better airlines - what nonesense!!

Air Canada, as well as its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa, are rather unique in not offering PTVs in Economy onboard a single one of their aircraft.

Also, Eugdog, Northwest has begun taking delivery of its A330-300s.

Lufthansa have them on the A330s due to them being installed by the aircraft's previous operators.
