HP's Point To Point Growth In 2004

Thu Jan 08, 2004 5:18 am

What do you guys think? They said they'd like to add routes outside of LAS and PHX for 2004 which presents an interesting question; what cities will the concentrate on? The obvious answer would have to be BOS, JFK, SFO, and LAX. Has anyone heard anything pertaining to this issue? In september or so I had heard rumblings about a possible HP expansion in STL into non hub markets, but that since has died down and I haven't heard another thing about it. I guess Leonard thinks he'll get farther talking to WestJet, Aeromexico, and Hawiian Sad. Anyways, back to the original question, I was told in November they were looking into DFW, as that seems to be a very popular destination for them. I presented the idea here but it was shot down, has anyone else heard the same about DFW?

That isn't the obvious answer as they have already iniated service between those 4 cities!  Smile

I would look for expansion in other major business cities such as Washington, Miami, Chicago, etc

DFW-LAX is a very good possiblility. It is a route that would command higher-than-average yields for HP by flying non-stop. By overflying PHX, it would allow HP to concentrate on higher-yield O&D traffic from PHX to other markets.

I know RJ, but I was thinking even more routes from those respective cities such as HP's new SFO-SJO.

HP did file for DOT permission for SFO-SJD (Los Cabos,Mx) and LAX-PVR (Puerta Vallarta,Mx)...the latter being filed by Mesa Air.

You're right. SJO is San Jose - San Jose, Costa Rica. SJD is San Jose del Cabo.

I heard that the Edmoton Airport Authority had some discussions with HP regarding service to LAX.

Hmm...interesting with Edmonton. The first few replies seem to be pretty much what I expected, same old, same old, SFO and LAX.
