What are the choices Northwest have should the pilots go on strike?

Pilots at pinnacle and NWA have said they won't fly additional flights. Does NWA have contingency plans?

Buses are probably chartered or are on notice to be available. If a strike takes place and it goes for too long (I don't really know what is "too long"), I'm sure there are other regional operators who would be glad to bid on new business for NW and could be positioned to do it on moderately short notice. I hope things get taken care of in the least detrimental way to everyone.

Hey, thanks for the link to the article....

If you haven't read it, the article points squarely at ALPA's agenda...

"We want pilots at Big Sky and Mesaba under one group," said Kris Pierson, spokesman for the Mesaba unit of Air Line Pilots Association. "It will have to be ALPA." Big Sky pilots are with a different union.

Hmmmm.... Do Mesaba pilots realize that their union is looking out for number 1, and that number 1 might not be who the Mesaba pilots think it is?

Yes, isn't that interesting!! The agenda is differet. "We want more money, we want more retirement and more importantly we want ALPA as the only union on your property." WOW!!!!!

I think it's important that the pilots get a decent (that doesn't mean industry leading) contract, but it's as important that the company be able to keep their customer (Northwest) happy by flying for them at a good price. At the same time, MAIR needs to produce a reasonable return on their investment. I think NW is influencing Mesaba management by threatening to pull the Avros, and ALPA is influencing Mesaba pilots in order to protect ALPA interests.... Hopefully when they are locked away talking before the deadline, both sides won't have those influences!
