Who Represents Big Sky Pilots?

Fri Jan 09, 2004 4:49 am

ALPA has made their biggest demand in the Mesaba pilot negotiations public:

http://www.freep.com/money/business/mesab8_20040108.htm

"We want pilots at Big Sky and Mesaba under one group," said Kris Pierson, spokesman for the Mesaba unit of Air Line Pilots Association. "It will have to be ALPA." Big Sky pilots are with a different union.

So which union represents Big Sky pilots? What happened to union solidarity? Guess that only applies if you belong to the "right" union?

Which state do you live in? Would the Mesaba strike impact you? How?

All the NW service out of my airport (Toledo, OH) is operated by Mesaba. They only fly TOL-DTW, so I guess it'll be bus service to DTW, which means driving right past my house anyway. It's 20 mins from my house to TOL, 45 to DTW. So most of the time I just drive up to DTW anyway. I have one ticket on a Mesaba operated flight in 2 weeks, but most of the time I fly mainline NW. I hear that the NW TOL service isn't doing that well. Hope this doesn't cause them to pull out altogether. If they ran a CRJ (better yet an AVRO) TOL-MSP, I'd fly out of TOL more....
