BA 744 Seating?

Mon Jan 12, 2004 12:22 pm

Next wedsday I am travelling on BA242 from MEX to LHR. I was assigned seat 26K, but will possible change it to 25K tomorrow. According to seatguru.com these are good seats. But after looking at pictures of a BA 744 on the outside and the seating plans its seems as though 26K has no window at all due to the emergency exit. Does anyone know if thisn is true? What would you consider the best World Traveller seat?

Also looking at the seating plan I am very close to the World Traveller Plus section. According to my travel agent the flight is going to be rather empty. So I have the illusion of the World Traveller + section will be empty so I can change to that section, as I have done on other airlines. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if the F/A are very strict about that? and if there is somekind of barrier between the two sections?

Thanks in advance

If you're on a 777, you're going to be the first row behind WT+...and yes it is a window seat.

Try this link - http://www.britishairways.com/travel/seatwt/public/en_ca

Under the "Traveller's Info" the left; hit "travel classes" and then choose your level. Then look for the "in flight" box and follow the link to the seating plans.

I haven't been on a BA777, but on the 744s, you can't really see Club Class, but there's not much of a barrier to World Traveller and WT+. I'm not sure how friendly BA is for upgrades. A friendly smile and a decent set of clothes always helps getting upgraded if you've got nothing else.

Have a good trip.

I'm going to be travelling on a 744. After thinking about it, I think it could be rather easy. On the 19 of December I flew from LHR-MEX also on BA. Since I'm am unacompained minor and the F/As are almost all Mexiacn (very friendly) I guess I should have no problem.

What do you guys think?

According to BA's website, there is no 26K on their 744.
Sorry I can't help.

Your right. But BA only shows the 70 buisness class configuration, in seatguru.com you can fine the 38 buisness class configuartion which does show 744.

Why won't BA show the other configuartion?

On the 38J 744 row 26 is the second row of economy. 25 is a bulkhead and are generally only available depending on how many babies are on the flight. They're generally not easy to get, especially if the flight's not full and they won't be upgrading as they'll probably give the best seats out to the Gold and Silver EC members. Both 25 and 26 have windows. 28 is the exit row and yes there is no window seat there making 29 A and K very desirable window seats as there's lots of legroom.

However, if you are travelling as a UM you will not be able to select your seat. Chances are it has been pre-assigned and because it is airline policy to seat UMs together and at certain spots which are best for cabin crew you will be unable to move. So, if you are willing to forego being a UM (only if you're over 12) and don't mind losing the $50 UM fee then you may, by all means, change your seat.

And no, you will not be able to seat in WTP. Unilke certain airlines like United where Economy Plus is treated still as Y only with more legroom, WTP is a completely separate class from World Traveller. You must buy a WTP ticket in order to sit there.

I'm 15 so I'll be travelling as a regular passenger. What I mean is that F/As may bend over because I'm travelling by myself. I'm aware that you have t pay more for a WTP seat, but if then flight is empty I might sneak in.

 Insane

You know that is not the 'British' thing to do nor many other nationalities, and the crew would not take kindly to someone purposely doing such a thing, you want WTP? then pay for it.

As has been said, the crew will not like it very much if you switch up with WTP. You, of course, may do whatever you like, however if caught you will be sent back to your regular seat. There is a curtain and possibly even a galley separating row 21 from row 25 (there is now 22-24) but I haven't been on board one of these configured types of planes in a while.

But, like Demoose said, you want WTP, pay for it!

P.S. I have the power to make sure you stay in your seat too. So you best be on you best behaviour young man  Big grin

I was only joking about the WTP thing. I sorry if I upset some of you. I really have no intentions or really doing that.

Sorry  Smile
