How about a passenger 747 at DFW. Sadly, the world's best airport has no 747 service, except for cargo.

How about an A330 at LAX? I think the only airline that flies them into LAX is EI for the LAX-DUB-SNN run.

Any narrowbody at NRT

DC-10 Cargo at FTW (I saw that once)

L-1011 at DAL (again...)

AA DC-10 at NRR in 1995 when weather was too bad at SJU and they were low on fuel (one more time...)

Ssides is right, DFW doesn't see many 747 unless they're the KE cargo or similar. Back in the summer of 2001 I saw a KE 747 lift off using less than 1/2 of 18R at DFW (they were lengthening 18L at the time) and then turn towards the EAST! I thought it might be going to ATL, MIA, or JFK or something. Any ideas?

"A 727 at JFK, although Champion still flies the three holers in on charters."

No so. Services from Champion were halted in early December. They will, however, pick up in February.
FedEx has been flying a few 727s into JFK lately as well, though.

"How about a passenger 747 at DFW. Sadly, the world's best airport has no 747 service, except for cargo."

Hey Garnetpalmetto,

A little off subject but I saw several ACA Dornier Jets parked outside a hangar (Eagle Aviation?) at CAE, along with a CRJ painted in United Express colors and I think a J41 or 2...do they perform mx there?

The one time I personally saw a 777 at MSP (UA PEK-ORD WX diversion) I was quite shocked. I even pointed out the window to some NW pilots pulling their release on the G-concourse at MSP ("ever seen one of them at MSP?") and they all stared with me. I was so shocked that I called like 7 people, of which 5 of them had no clue what I was talking about or really cared. We also do not get too many 767's. Airborne Express periodically has a 762 which replaces its DC8-62 (or 63?) to MSP. Some heavy Busses (UPS, FedEx, Express Net, etc.), but no pax service on 767 or 777 out of MSP. IF... IF... IF... KL decides to send one of its new 777's to MSP one day (I hear MD11 svc starts up this summer, still WAY cool to get an MD11 PAX svc. to MSP but...) you will see my pasty white ass praying to it  Smile And hitching a ride or two or seven  Smile

Without a doubt, the hardest plane to find at an airport is the one I am connecting to at PHL after a transatlantic crossing on US from MAN when I have to transverse 3 terminals and 19 TSA checkpoints and only have 40 minutes to do so with my wife and 2 girls in tow. Top that one!!

At PDX between Tuesday and Friday, it was easy to spot planes... just none of them were flying. I have yet to see an A330 at PDX or SEA, but I have only been to SEA twice over New Years. Another hard plane for me to find is a BAe-146-THE cutest jet EVER IHMO!!! The last one I saw was at PDX in 1995 when Air BC flew the Canucks to face the Mighty Ducks in an exibition game.

I love the BAe-146. Used to see them all over California back when PSA had them. Nowadays, not so much.  Sad Would much rather fly on a 146 than on yet another 737.

How about ANY COMMERCIAL plane at ORH (worcester mass.)...they haven't seen any service for about a year now

how about 747's at BOS in the winter...i think they only get 1 BA 747-400 regularly. VS and LH will send the 747-400 during the summer, but until then its all A330's, A340's and B777

I'd have to say a 747 or DC10 series at DSM. However, UPS has flown a 747 in during the holidays, and Omni Air will run a DC10 charter (often for the National Guard) out of here, so it does happen.

Last summer a UA 777-200 enroute IAD-SFO had to divert due to a mechanical problem. That was a rarity!

I've actually seen two 747 pax aircraft at DFW within the past three or four years. One was BA and the other was an older AF model.

Sure would like to see A340 zip into ABI. We've got good women and free-flowing beer for anyone who could make that happen.

JbirdAV8r,

To answer your question, yes, ACA has a maintenance base here in CAE.  Smile

The hardest airplane to find around here at CAE, at least the last time I flew out, was any mainline aircraft that didn't belong to Delta. Delta flies a couple of mainline aircraft in here, and everything else is RJ equipment as far as I know.
