Halt For Screen All Checked Bags At US Airports!

Tue Jan 13, 2004 12:40 am

Attention Everyone!!!!

And this is must to be halted for screened all checked bags at the US Airports and leave scanner itself into their bags into the belt and no longer need go directly to the x-ray machines anymore into front of the ticket counter and that is last chance for 1 year now and TSA is keeping do that for the screening checked bags at the airport. No more for screening all checked bags at the ticket counter and this willing have to pull out of that person into the airport now. Let shut it down of the Homeland Security right now and those are no more for terror alert either and this is his last chance for their job and fired Tom Ridge right way. Thanks!

That made absolutely no sense.

That's because Scotty's using ASL (American Sign Language).

Try reading it through and switch some of the words around, then it starts to make sense.

I think if they stopped screening all checked baggage or fired Tom Ridge there would be an enormous ammount of panic from the public. A lot of people are paranoid about terrorists and stuff. My grandpa would probally have a heart attack over worrying too much. haha I don't nesscarily agree with those people, but I do think there needs to be a balance.

Scotty, the screening of checked luggage is a minor inconvenience, but unfortunately it is necessary. Otherwise, terrorists will sneak bombs into checked luggage, planes will get blown up--just like Pan Am 103--and more people will die. Sad but true.

Oh shut up. Other users have already explained why the post didn't make sense intially. We didn't need your random drop-in to pile on them.

And I'm sorry, but even though Scotty uses ASL, it still doesn't change the fact that the initial posting still reads and sounds like gibberish.

I agree with EA CO AS. I can't figure out what Scotty is trying to say. Does he think that TSA is halting screening of all bags? Can anyone let us know what really is going on?

My interpretation: Scotty thinks that the screening of checked bags at the ticket counter should be halted, that Homeland Security should be shut down and the terror alert suspended, and that Tom Ridge should be fired. At least that's what I thought when I wrote my previous post. If I misunderstood, I apologize.

Yeah don't mess with Scotty!! He's a respected poster on this page and never posts jibberish!!

As for the screening of all checked baggage I don't think that it will ever stop. I know in GRR the machines are infrom of the ticket counters and now all the passengers have to do is drop off their bags at the machine on their way up to the gate. No inconvenience towards them. They just have to make sure their bag is unlocked and no weapons, lighters, matches, or film is in the bag. If they want the bags locked once screening is done all the passengers have to do is inform the screeners.

I though ASL was for deaf and mute people, how does that affect writing?

ScottysAir ,

What do you mean by saying this is their "last chance"? What exactly are you going to do about it if they don't stop screening luggage?

And for what it's worth, I demand that all luggage be screened; both checked and unchecked luggage, and air cargo.

The next generation Baggage X-Ray equipment is supposed to be integrated into the baggage belts going into the bag room. This is supposed to consoldate the operation and save space in the terminal for more people to complain about the checkpoint lines.  Big grin Seriously though, with the new program that is trying get off the ground with background checks to help alleviate the checkpoint waiting times. Screening bags should have been started after Pan Am 103 anyways. This proceedure is going to be permanent.
As far as Tom Ridge goes, I think the government has made huge strides in protecting the public. Too bad that they are a long way from getting the job done.

ASL IS for deaf, hard of hearing, or mute people. Scott writes what he speaks, as do we. If he were to personally tell you what he thought, it would sound similar to this, I had a HOH person in my class once, and they do speak and write in ASL

PVD757,

When will able install with the x-ray machines into their belt soon? How? It would be remove with the big one of those x-ray machines and please forget it with the past about Pan Am into 15 years ago and it is over for the terror did not bring with the explosives either after 9/11. Let it go for now and please have make scanner with these bags into the belt and not go direct to the x-ray machines front of the ticket counter anymore. It's time to bring it back with the old times.

At this point it's almost no longer a civ av thread, so I'm going to start a corresponding thread in non-av. Anyone who needs to know about ASL/hearing please go there.
