AA DFW-EZE

Tue Jan 13, 2004 4:38 am

An article in the Dallas Morning News on Saturday stated that American plans to push their 3x weekly DFW-EZE service up to daily by June of 2004.

Everyone (including myself) was worried about how well this service would do but I guess it's doing pretty well to go to daily by June, after starting in November. I've heard that the cargo will be strong on this route but I'm guessing that alot of tourists are heading to Argentina to take advantage of the hugely devalued currency down there.

Its not too surprising. A lot of DFW based electronics companies have outsourced a lot of their manufacturing work to South America--not only are there a lot of people going back and forth, but there is a ton of cargo.

Concordeboy just filled me in that they are increasing frequency to improve utilization, as the FAA is looking at giving DFW-EZE slots to CO. I told him I didn't understand this...can anyone fill me in?

Oh thanks alot, that helps alot. Interesting story. Thanks Concorde.

Here's hoping that AA can find a way to route enough pax through DFW and keep the cargo flowing to keep this route.

Aerolineas Argentinas has lost out yet again. A lot of the connecting traffic is from the West Coast. Los Angeles was a former AR destination!

Why would DOT give DFW-EZE slots to CO? Would they be able to transfer them to IAH? CO has a minimal presence at DFW, I doubt they would ever operate such a long international non-stop by CO.

American is running a big add campain for the DFW service in Argentina and Uruguay in both EZE Pistarini and MVD Carrasco airports. All AA ticket offices also have big adds promoting Dallas, Texas service. From MVD it is a one connection in EZE. And so far, load factors in December have been very high according to the flight attendant I was talking to. But I really don't know if load factors will keep like that during the winter season...

The DOT awarded AA the extra slots. Moreover, since AA now serves LIM, SCL, GRU and EZE from DFW, their 777 that flew DFW-MIA to connect to the deep South flights in a three-class configuration will operate in a dual-configuration.
