Boeing 777-300ER Orders

Wed Jan 14, 2004 3:44 am

Just saw the pics of the Air France 773ER and I am wondering how many did they order and what the order book looks like for the 777-300ER. I searched Boeing's site and it had general 777's deliveries and orders.
Regards.

Sorry, but I don't think that list is 300ERs. The 300ERs are only powered by GE engines.

[edit] This post was before I'd seen the second list!

ScottysAir,

Looks like Air France has 10 777-300ER on order. Delivery should start in 2004. I don't know how many they will receive this year. Hope that answers your question.

Announced orders by airlines often include leased aircraft. Are some 777's being double-counted in the above list because the same order is listed for both an airline and a leasing company?

Cloudy,

The list is from Boeing. They are not double counted. Orders made by leasing companies and airlines are always listed seperately.

No, they are not double counted. GECAS has 14 on order, and they will be leased to Emirates. ILFC has 18 on order, 12 will go to Emirates, and the other six will go to Air France.

So, Air France will operate at least 16 773ERs.

There have been rumors that CX and QF might order 777NGs this year. Also, the usual rumors about BA,SQ,QR, KL.

If the alleged BA deal goes through, CX would have little incentive to purchase 777NGs...

Oooops! I was a bit too quick, should have been F-GSQA as the reg. of the first 777-300ER to be delivered to ILFC/Air France in Apr04.

I seriously hope that SQ will get the 777NG. I'll miss the 744's.

ConcordeBoy,

If the alleged BA deal goes through, CX would have little incentive to purchase 777NGs...

Would that be because BA would be to much competition? Just wondering....

No, it'd be because they just got fifteen 400seaters for "cheap"... versus having to purchase less seats on a much more expensive model.

Boeing Nut:

CX is in negotiations to purchase up to 15 BA 747-400s. If this deal goes through, there's not much reason for them to purchase, at the moment, new 400 seat 777s.

"Looks like Air France has 10 777-300ER on order. Delivery should start in 2004. I don't know how many they will receive this year."

Indeed, AF has 10 aircraft on order, plus, as already mentioned, they will be leasing at least 6 from ILFC. Delivery begins in April, and by the end of 2004, AF should have at least 6 aircraft in its fleet (IIRC).

"If this deal goes through, there's not much reason for them to purchase, at the moment, new 400 seat 777s."

Ah -- but according to the sources I've heard from, most of the used 744s would be converted into freighters. This, coupled with CX's growth plans just announced today, indicates that, even if CX buys all 15 aircraft they seem to want, there will stil be a need for new passenger aircraft.

This year will prove interesting, no matter what happens (unless, of course, nothing happens. . .  Angry ).

Isn't today's RFP for 9 WBs in the 330/777 category with a requirement for RR engines? Would seem to rule out the 773ER at CX for the moment, anyway.

Dale.

nine A330/777s dont add up to anywhere near an $11billion sum (unless it's in HK dollars??)... as is being alleged.

DaleCary, they requested RR engines but that doesn't rule out the 777NG. Who knows what kind of deal Boeing might have for them.
