Possible Names For Virgin's USA Division

Wed Jan 14, 2004 12:22 pm

OK, so let's be creative and propose some names to Sir Richard Branson for his soon-to-be-born USA airline.

My suggestions (some humorous, some serious)

1) VIRGINIA or VIRGINIAIR (based somewhere in Virginia)

2) AIR WHORE

3) AIR SYPHILIS

4) CHASTE AIR

5) VIRGUS

6) INTERAMERICAN

7) VIRGIN COLONIAL

8) SLUT AIR

Virgin USA would work, simple and shows who it is. (Boring too however...)

I seem to remember somewhere on a.net that indeed (at least a few years ago) he planned on calling it Virgin Red?

I know this is off the subject but I thought foreign companies were not allowed to own a majority of a US airline. Is Sir Richard Branson going to start up a new company seperate from Virgin or are they going to own a minority stock?

I was told by an insider that Virgin Red was the name and this was over 6 months ago...

Well, then it isn't going to be based near SFO. It would be Virgin Pink there.

Seriously, they need to cut the color ties. What if they start an airline in South Africa? What would that be?

How about Virgin Stars? And I'm surely not talking Britney Spears obviously!

Anyway, hope it does well whatever they call it. After Virgin RED, is it not a virgin anymore?

Here I was thinking I was pretty funny for thinking of "Dirty Slut" but then I realized that someone posted something similar already. Now...if they had Paris Hilton painted on the plane....

Okay

Virgin Red - will fit the strategy well along with Blue & Atlantic

I could suggest the following

Virgin - Plain & Simple

Virgin Western

Virgin America

Virgin 4u

JetRed or Redjet - The Virgin group alternative to Jetblue

Surely Virgin Red is a no go as an entire generation was trained to fear a 'Red under the bed', in reference to Communists!

Virgin America sounds the best to me.

I'm sure we all know that if it was called Virgin Red, the planes would be painted all blue Laugh out loud

Have you tried entering a few of those names with .com at the end to find clues?

www.virginusa.com looks promising.

i don't wanna be a damper on the subject, but i would just like to say that how could any american want to support a basicly 'foreign' airline when they know that all the other american carriers are in trouble. You guys talk on how you wanna see UA,AA,US be saved, and yet, most of you seem pleased to see Virgin whatever enter the USA to steal OUR money!!! I will never ever step on a Virgin USA or whatever plane!
Just my and George Bush's 2 cents.
Now you're really flying

thank you greaser for finally telling people to help our airlines by flying with them and not foreign based airlines that won't help us at all.

BTW- I tried virginusa .com and it brings up nothing.

Since Ahnuld is courting Branson heavily for the new airline to be based in California, perhaps it should be named: The Virginator.
