Phuket Air Gets 3 New 747 Again

I heard that Phuket Air gets 3 formely Garuda B747.

Does anyone knows which one that will be

"New" 747's is a nice little euphemism considering the age and cycles/ hours of GA's B747-200B's. .)

Any idea how Phuket air is crewing these planes? are they training their existing pilots.

Such a short flight for a bunch of 747's.. but I guess if Thai can do it, they can.

I remember reading about these guys. They were looking for some charter business out of Japan to some of the leisure areas in Thailand.

I do know that they operate a few B737-200s and recently they purchased 3 YS-11s from ANA with crap load of hours.

I think this company is expanding too fast.
Any more info anybody?  Yeah sure

There are currently (as of 10 Jan 2004) four B747s flying for Phuket Air. They are:

HS-VAA ex-KLM in hybrid livery
HS-VAV ex-KLM in hybrid livery
HS-VAK ex- PK-GSD in Phuket Air livery
HS-VAO ex-Garuda (not sure which one yet) in Phuket Air livery

As indicated in earlier postings in this thread, a third Garuda B747-2U3B is likely to join the pair above. With this, Phuket Air will operate five B747s, three B737-200s and four NAMC YS-11As.

They are currently employed on Haj flights from Thailand and also put in a few charters to / from Seoul-Incheon and China.

For summer 2004, it looks like flights to Dubai, London (airport designation unclear but likely to be either Gatwick or Stansted) and possibly an Australian city (possibly SYD).

Note that plans and fleet composition and sometimes even livery is changing on a weekly basis among Thai carriers . . .
