Classes Of Reservation That Do Not Give FF Miles

Wed Jan 14, 2004 8:45 pm

Beware if you book a domestic flight in "N" class (economy, special web fare) with AF as this fare does not give FF miles.
Is this an AF-only thing or are there any other carriers that have special fares that do not entitle you to anything ?

A lot of carriers have classes that do not entitle you to FF miles. SQ, BA, KU to name a few, they all have restrictions on certain classes.

For example SQ didn't give any miles three years ago if you had booked with following classes in economyclass: G N Q X V. But with economyclass Y of course you could and still can get miles.

I am happy that SAS gives at least 100% FF-miles at the miles flown on any fares, but not on their lowcost company Snowflake.

Hi Copenhagenboy, UA is doing the same thing, is it the same for other Star Alliance partners ?

Yep, I believe * Carriers you accrue miles on almost all booking classes. MX does that for sure.

In oneworld they restrict the discounted economy and give around 30%  Sad

Attention when you book a LH flight within Germany in the "T" booking class, you will only receive half of the regular miles (only 500 per flight instead of 1000).

Patrick, that's true - on the other hand, you actually still get more than 100% of the miles actually flown that way: the longest domestic route I know would be KEL-MUC (which, I think, isn't even offered anymore) and that route is 423mi (HAM-MUC is 373mi, STR-TXL is 322mi).

As far as I know, by the way, BMI doesn't give out 100% on all fares - I'd have to go look for the inflight magazine that I've got somewhere around here, but I think they - on some fares, web-only-fares if I recall correctly - go down to 25% of miles flown.

Frank, I was a little bit angry when I heard that you only receive 500 miles per flight when booked in T-class, but now I think that it is only fair. In the past everyone received the same miles, no matter if you paid 92 EUR for a roundtrip in the lowest booking class or if you paid 300 EUR for a roundtrip in flexible Economy Class, nowadays I have no problem with receiving only half of the miles when I am booked in the cheap T-class.

From AF website, on domestic flight:

I or W class 250 miles
Q, M or K 500 miles
R 750 miles
C or Y 1000 miles

N, G and B don't entitle you any airmiles on domestic flights.
On international flights if you want to get miles avoid G and B classes.

I'm AF Frequence plus jeune, so I earn 1000 miles when I book a domestic flight whatever the class except on N class.

Patrick, I know the feeling - I was somewhat annoyed at first as well, but - just as you said - I have no problems with it now (better less miles than non at all, right?)... and since you barely get T-class-seats from HAJ, it doesn't matter that much for me anyway...

And, I just remembered that N, X, G, O, A and B-Class on AF also don't give you miles on TAM's Fidelidade program, not just on domestic flights, but on intra-european ones as well... a friend actually missed reconfirming his red-(top-)status because of that...

But as far as I know, you get miles on any TAM booking class on Fidelidade - because all my SDU-CGH flights last year were on the lowest class available, and I got points each and every time.

Frank
