Hawaiian Airlines- InterIsland FC And Tixx?

Thu Jan 15, 2004 12:22 pm

Hey everyone

I'm looking forward to flying within the Hawaiian Isles in May.

I am partial to Hawaiian since it jives with my frequent flyer plan.

Does HA still have(did it ever?) an interIsland pass?

What is the going rate for one way fares?

Also, in looking at the HA fleet, it uses 717s on interIsle flights, correct?

Does it actually use or sell its First class seats on these short flights???

Thanks for your help

(oh, and for those who answered my last HA query, we'd ruled out Tahiti for the time being  Big grin )

PS If I get an interIsland ticket through AAdvantage, is that PER each interIsland flight?

The only thing I see mentioned about them is how many you have to buy a year to make Pualani status in the HawaiianMiles program. Try calling Hawaiian Reservations at 1-800-367-5320 and asking to find out details about it.

One way interisland coach fares are $69, $98, and $110. Plus tax. Depends on availability, and the $110 fare has no change fee.

Aloha fares are generally comparable, AQ does however have lower fares available for purchase online if you're a member of the AlohaPass frequent flyer program.

Correct.

Yes, you can buy an interisland first class seat. $135 each way plus tax.

The 5,000 mile interisland award via AA or NW (same price via UA, but on AQ) is RT. NW allows open-jaw tickets, so one could travel HNL-OGG/OGG-KOA with one ticket... I'm not certain if AA allows this, but I would presume so. That way, one would have to spend only 10,000 miles to see all the major islands... you can purchase the unlimited island pass on HA/AQ still I believe or for 15,000 miles on AA/NW (NW for sure, I'm not 100% positive for AA). When purchased with cash, the island pass doesn't accumulate FF miles.

Using miles to purchase interisland tickets is the best way to go, given the ridiculous prices... given the short distances between islands, First Class isn't worth it -- you get a bonus drink, wider/rommier seat but that's it.
