This is an example of what a really good livery can do. It makes this Tupolev look years younger and very classy! Its sharp lines coupled with the silver paint really make it look good. I think this will reassure passengers getting onto such a plane, it helps break the image that Russian planes are just clunky flying buckets. All in all a great livery! I know it's been discussed before, but this is the first time I've seen it on a Russian aircraft.
Definitely a gorgeous livery...makes one wonder though if we'll be complaining about the profusion of "Eurosilver" liveries in 10 years though..it's so stunning that you know other airlines are going to ape it.
South Carolina - too small to be its own country, too big to be a mental asylum.
And finally... the Russians didn't just manage to make the most beautiful a/c:s of all times. Now they've come up with a livery to blow all western carriers away for years. This is gonna be hard to do better.
This is just stunning! I don't know what it is, I guess the combination of the sharp, no-nonsense lines of Russian ACs, the night-time atmosphere and this PERFECT livery just looks great.
Jat Airways could certainly learn a thing or two, what with that filth they just came up with. After all those contests and fanfare all they ended up with are three dots.... But anyway, enough about that, there's another thread for it. Again, Aeroflot has very pleseantly surprised me.
I have a question: why is Aeroflot painting their TU3's and TU5's with new colours when they're having those A319/A320 aircraft coming, as mentioned in the article that was linked somewhere above? What are the Airbuses going to replace if the Tupolevs stay in the fleet as well?
Other than that, the plane looks gorgeous. I wonder what the interior looks like - the old classic Tupolev, or is it renewed.
I agree that the livery's terrific yet what I like most about it is the fact that culturally it still looks Eastern European to me. The utilitarian steely grey with the flag on the tail blending into the fuselage and the Cyrillic script is all a contemporary rendering but it feels Russian!
And WOW isn't it amazing what a bad livery change can do.
