Wow! What a really good livery can do.

Sat Jan 17, 2004 1:29 am

This is an example of what a really good livery can do. It makes this Tupolev look years younger and very classy! Its sharp lines coupled with the silver paint really make it look good. I think this will reassure passengers getting onto such a plane, it helps break the image that Russian planes are just clunky flying buckets. All in all a great livery! I know it's been discussed before, but this is the first time I've seen it on a Russian aircraft.

I have to agree. . .it does make the a/c look more up-to-date and advanced. Amazing what a good livery can do.

I LOVE this new livery. Would love to see it on a 777. It looks even better on the Tu- 154.

I agree. A MD90 would look good in this too, though it would look like a flying beer can. Oh well, nice thought.  Big thumbs up

Solnabo: Looks like Aeroflot will not keep the A310's in the future

Aeroflot Gets Airbus

Aeroflot on Wednesday received the first of 18 new Airbus A319 aircraft it ordered as part of a sweeping fleet restructuring, the flagship carrier said.

Aeroflot is replacing 27 older Boeings and Airbuses with 27 new craft — 9 Boeing 767s and 18 Airbus A320/319s.

Restructuring is expected to be completed in 2005 and will allow the com-pany to save $95 million annually. Aeroflot operates more than 100 aircraft of 11 different makes.

USNSeal,

LOL, just paint that -90 like that, and put Coors Lite on the side...in the wavy font  Smile Here's to the queen!

Seriously though...that made this jet look extremely young...even fooled me for a second! Deltaflot is better tho  Big grin

Definitely a gorgeous livery...makes one wonder though if we'll be complaining about the profusion of "Eurosilver" liveries in 10 years though..it's so stunning that you know other airlines are going to ape it.

And finally... the Russians didn't just manage to make the most beautiful a/c:s of all times. Now they've come up with a livery to blow all western carriers away for years. This is gonna be hard to do better.

This is just stunning! I don't know what it is, I guess the combination of the sharp, no-nonsense lines of Russian ACs, the night-time atmosphere and this PERFECT livery just looks great.

Jat Airways could certainly learn a thing or two, what with that filth they just came up with. After all those contests and fanfare all they ended up with are three dots.... But anyway, enough about that, there's another thread for it. Again, Aeroflot has very pleseantly surprised me.

Wow, what an awesome livery!  Big thumbs up

I can't wait to see this on other SU planes like the Il-96. I believe that SU recently ordered new Il-96-300's and they will definitely look great in this scheme.  Smile

Even though I like the Aeroflot new livery, I hate it on this plane. It's just because I have every plane that was built in the Soviet Union.

I have a question: why is Aeroflot painting their TU3's and TU5's with new colours when they're having those A319/A320 aircraft coming, as mentioned in the article that was linked somewhere above? What are the Airbuses going to replace if the Tupolevs stay in the fleet as well?

Other than that, the plane looks gorgeous. I wonder what the interior looks like - the old classic Tupolev, or is it renewed.

I have to say I don´t like it very much, it´s a bit too tacky for my taste.

It gets even worse on nice classic airliners - it simply doesn´t fit the a/c.
An brand new type in retro-colours, anytime. But an old plane in new colours just feels wrong.

Sorry to disagree with you all...

I must say it is a superb new c/s.What a shame we won't see the A310 or 777 in this scheme.

The older picture was taken just 3 1/2 months before the new one-the new colors took 10 years off the jet!

The silver fuselage looks cool-in the right light it has a slight goldish tint.

i dunno what aeroflot is doing with the 777s,maybe they want to keep those tails and engines like the way they are. the A310s are going. No need to repaint those-they wont be around long.

Personally, in my mind, Aeroflot was always associated with the classic cheatline scheme... Although the new one has grown on me as well. At least they kept the best logo in aviation...

I L O V E that livery!! It's is absolutely beautiful! It seems very "westeren hemisphere" to me, yet lights years ahead of all other carriers in the aformentioned area.

I agree that the livery's terrific yet what I like most about it is the fact that culturally it still looks Eastern European to me. The utilitarian steely grey with the flag on the tail blending into the fuselage and the Cyrillic script is all a contemporary rendering but it feels Russian!

And WOW isn't it amazing what a bad livery change can do.
