USA 3000. Anyone ever fly them?

Sat Jan 17, 2004 4:41 am

I'm taking the wife and 3 kids to Florida in March on USA 3000 out of KDTW. Anyone ever fly them? I read on their website they have inflight movies. Is this on all flights or only charters? Any info would be appreciated.

Great charter airline. You get meals and entertainment. It's on all flights as they only have a fleet of new A320's.

I flew with them about 2 years ago from ORD to Ixtapa, Mexico. It was charter but it was a really good exprience. They served hot towels, "takeoff mamosas"? (I didnt partake) their food is pretty good and they had inflight entertainment (cant remember the name but its that one where Denis Quaid is a baseball player)

I haven't flown on them, I know that they are based here in PHL (actually in suburban PHL). They are owned by Apple Vacations (at least partially) and are mostly used for charter flights. They also fly some scheduled flights, although they are irregular (ie PHL-PIE Tues, Thurs, Sun or something like that). From PHL they mostly fly to Florida and the Caribbean. I'd imagine it's the same elsewhere.

Yes the Florida flights operate on days when the aircraft are not doing charter flights. Good idea as it keeps the planes working and it is a pretty easy sell from the cold NE to sunny and warm Florida.

I talk to USA3000 quite abit on the bus ride to work and talk about the company alot. Seems they are a smart way to fly, looks like a good company and they may be going places in the future. Good choice from what i know of.

Hey, for $640 round trip for the four of us from DTW to FLL they get my vote. We'll have a 10 month old on our lap for the flight so I hope there's a good movie.

I Talk to a qood many of their customers, they all seen very happy with the service on board the fleet of 320 aircraft. They serve meals and offer movies on flights to Florida, the fares are starting at 59.00 and from PIE they serve PHL/PIT/CLE/MKE/ORD/DTW. The flights arrive between 1800 and 2030, on the average they run about 30-45 mins late. You can`t beat the bargin,go for it.

i do remember Apple vacations flying from south america, and they stopped in aruba to chicago. This was back in 1997. I guess that was the past of USA3000.

Not to throw a negative into all these positive reviews of USA 3000, but.....

My neighbors booked Apple Vacations / USA 3000 from DTW-CZM a couple of weeks ago. They were over 30 hours late getting to CZM. Their flight from DTW to CZM was supposed to leave Saturday Jan. 3 at around 5 pm, instead they didn't leave DTW until late pm Sunday Jan. 4...... Needless to say they are NOT very happy and are looking for some compensation from Apple for their loss of time in CZM.

USA 3000 has leased some A320's for there busy winter season, tho like any charter airline during the busy season they planes are kept very busy and once one breaks down it usually has to be fixed ASAP or you wait until another one becomes available. Your neighbor should look in the back of the apple brochure as they spell out just what the compensation is when you have a delay.

I happened to see one of their A320's rotating out of DFW on Jan. 13 @ 1400. From a distance I first thought it was Air Canada but then noticed the USA 3000 title.

As I've said before, I believe they offer the best inflight product to Florida. On the ground it's sketchy because they have no computer system nor any USA3000 employees (they contract the work out to ground services companies) which means usually they have no idea about the airline if you have specific questions. Inflight, there are 5 usually very good flight attendants aboard. First-run movies are complimentary (headsets as well) and the meal (in my experience it's been a sandwich wrap) comes on a tray with cookies, some fruit, a cup of water, and condiments. The A320s are tight inside but kept very clean and the crews seem to take pride in their jobs. Both flights were late, 1 hour on the outbound and 35 minutes on the return, but it didn't make a difference because it was 100% O/D. Overall I would definitely fly them again without hesitation.

That's why I avoid charter airlines... my past experiences on them have almost always resulted in delays, the longest being only 5 hours though...

Yes, we have sometimes experienced delays with them. The whole problem with charter airlines is that one delay during the day effects all other flights.

USA 3000 uses Radixx Air as their computer system. As to WHY they don't have it installed at their counters is beyond my knowledge. All you need is a PC with an internet connection & a Citrix client license ($500 per).

My airline (FCA), Chalks Ocean, and Great Lakes use Radixx at all of our stations and we're :: small :: fries. Why an airline like USA 3000 can't afford it or just chooses not to is assanine in my view.

I have also seen USA 3000 quite a bit lately into JFK. They have been operating to PUJ, and CUN. Does anyone know what company they do this for? It seems there is always one charter airline operating JFK-CUN/PUJ, ex: Champion, Ryanair.

The flights from various US cities to PUJ and CUN are part of Apple Vacations tour packages. Occasionally, they lease aircraft from Thomas Cook.

I flew USA 3000 from PHL to PUJ; aside from the skimpy meals, the service was very professional. Flight attendents and pilots will do the best to fill any reasonable request. My daughters and I even got a tour of the flight deck at PHL. Seating is somewhat high-density (168), but the A320s were clean and comfortable. 12 audio channels and a first-run movie on every flight. The little Airbus is a very nice plane to fly on. I'd definitely recommend them.

They also fly out of cvg in the morning for cun, come back later in the afternoon, get fuel and get going back to cle. Haven't flown on them yet.they run a better ship then apple does! We're lucky if they know where their plane is at all! Many times they say they'll arrive at 2100 and they wont arrive till 0000 or later.
