Pilot Jobs In Canada

Mon Jan 17, 2000 11:28 am

with Air Canada taking over Canadain Airlines there could be a real danger of Pilot layoff's , or at the very least a halt to hiring. Young pilots in Canada may find it more difficult to get hired by a "major". Will there be layoff's? a freeze on hiring? Or does anyone know the easiest route to the States in terms of Piloting jobs?

A concerned Pilot.

Air Canada has promised no layoffs. They hope to reduce some parts of the workforce purely by voluntary early retirement. I don't see how they would break their promise as it was part of their commitment to the government in order to get approval. As far as other jobs, Inter-Canadien pilots will want to get flying jobs, but all the charters, WestJet, and a new startup called CanJet will be hiring. Pa31-350, great to see an Edmontonian around here!
