SEOUL (AFP) - South Korean authorities stepped up security at airports after Korean Air's Bangkok office received a letter warning of attacks on flights to the country, officials said.

The letter, received late Friday, was sent by an unknown group identifying itself as the "Anti-Korean Interest Agency," Korean Air said.

A letter from the same group was sent to the South Korean embassy in Bangkok eight days ago, warning of attacks on South Korean assets and aircraft in Southeast Asia.

The letter to Korean Air said the mystery group was planning attacks on flights of the South Korean carrier bound from Bangkok to Busan, and on Singapore Airlines' flights from Bangkok to Incheon.

It said three "agents" of the group had booked seats on three Korean Air flights bound from Bangkok to Busan between Saturday and Tuesday, and two others had reserved seats on two Singapore Airlines' flights to Incheon, each scheduled on Monday and Tuesday.

Upon receiving the letter, Korean Air conducted a special security check of passengers and baggage aboard a flight set to depart for Busan from Bangkok early Saturday. The plane arrived in Busan without any incident.

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

Hmm... what has SIA got to do with "anti-Korean" interest? Unless they are serving sub-standard kimchi on their ICN bound flights and it pissed someone off!  Smile

Damn terrorists trying to inconvenience passengers!

Maybe, SIA serves so well South Korea by giving passengers such high product and services standards that it is too pro-Korean?  Big grin

Anyway, stupid terrorists.
