Ciao,
Alitalia is currently flying only the three all pax examples.
The 5 Combi aircrafts are currently stored at different location.
I have personally seen 4 on them at FCO in the technical area,
I know that the 5th one is stored in Naples.
The 3 all pax will be phased out later this year as new B777s and B767s will enter service and will be converted into full frieghter at Venice Officine Aeronavali on behalf of Lufthansa who has acquired them.

Alitalia will keep at least 3 Combi and convert them into freighters too.
Still unclear the fate of the other 2 Combis

Ciao

Stefano

I flew out of FCO today and saw three AZ MD11's parked in the technical area. One had the Alitalia "A" removed from the tail section.

I thought all of Alitalia's MD-11's were being converted to freighters. It would be interesting to see an MD-11F with two cargo doors!

Rumours say Martinair Holland is adding a 'new' MD-11F to its cargo fleet, maybe this is an ex-Alitalia machine?

Anyone any info about this?

Duke, what do you mean, "Aaah...the MD-11"? Surely it should be "Aaaaaargh! Get out of the way! It's coming off the runway towards us, upside down! It must be an MD-11!"

AZ currently has no M11's in pax service. Three combi aircraft are marked for freighter conversion, to be undertaken in Italy (Florence?) with supervision from Boeing .
