Map Switched Off On UA

Mon Jan 17, 2000 3:34 pm

For the past 1.5 years or so, why has the map been turned off on all United flight entertainment systems?
Is this related to SR 111?
Why doesn't UA come right out and tell us this is a systemwide decision and not an odd occurence?
Can a pilot adress this?

There is a reliability problem with the Airshow Digital Interface Unit. UA has temporarily de-activated Airshow, and will return it to service as soon as the problem is solved.

Bingo. I had it malfunction twice on my NRT-SEA flight last August.
