International Routes You Would Like To See

Mon Jan 19, 2004 12:22 pm

I would be interested to know what international routes you would like to see from your local airport/favourite airline, that you would hope to be profitable and popular.
To start mine are EDI-IAD/MCO/YYZ(year round)/ATH I would like to see the most. No particular airlines though ideally UA, AC, OA.

PRG-ORD, OK, 3 times/week
PRG-LIS, OK, daily
PRG-LUX, OK or Luxair, daily

I would love to see FAI-anywhere!! We are within range of anywhere in the northern hemisphere by flying over the pole.

FAI-FRA exists once a week in summer and FAI-Dawson City-Whitehorse exists 3x a week on a Beech 99 but those don't really count. Big grin

-DEN-AKL (Air New Zealand)

Where did you get that from because Air NZ has not intentions on flying there. Air NZ is planning to fly to SFO as well as LAX

I would like to see from WLG more flights to Australia (Air NZ, Qantas and Pacific Blue)
B7E7 opening long haul routes from WLG.
Qantas (Jetconnect) getting rid of their B733s and flying the B738

Wow...nobody on this thread is biased towards their home airport.....

Okay, I will be as well, but only with one.

PHL-TLV, LY 777 or US 332 (when they have them, and STILL are flying)

I'd rather be flying.

From my hometown airport, EWR, I'd like to see direct flights to Havana, Cuba. This is a fascinating country, one I hope to visit sometime in the not too distant future. Now if I could only convince the US government...

Like to see a taxiway from Tijuana MX to Brown Field, San Diego with a customs ramp on it. You could land in country of origin and clear customs on the ground and take off in the destination country. Would only be a mile or so in length.

On a realistic scale, for MIA:

South America:
MIA-BLA (Barcelona, Venezuela)
MIA-PMV (Porlamar, Venezuela)
MIA-IQT (Iquitos, Peru)
MIA-CUZ (Cuzco, Peru)
MIA-COR (Cordoba, Argentina)
MIA-FOR (Fortaleza, Brazil)
MIA-BSB (Brasilia, Brazil)
MIA-BE), Brazil">BEL (Belem, Brazil)
MIA-REC (Recife, Brazil)
MIA-SSA (Salvador, Brazil)
(*Before cutting back on all long-haul flying outside of RU / SBGR), Brazil">GRU to nothing but GIG-FRA, Varig used to serve all those destinations from MIA except BSB)

Caribbean:
MIA-GND (Grenada)
MIA-ANU (Antigua)
MIA-TAB (Tobago)
MIA-SLU (St. Lucia)

Mexico/Canada:
MIA-YOW (Ottawa)
MIA-GDL (Guadalajara)
MIA-CZM (Cozumel)

Europe:
MIA-MAN (Manchester, UK)
MIA-RU / EBBR / EBMB), Belgium">BRU (Brussel, BE)
MIA-FCO (Rome, IT)
MIA-WAW (Warsaw, PO)
MIA-PRG (Prague, CZ)
MIA-SVO (Moscow, RU)
MIA-BCN (Barcelona, ES)
MIA-CPH (Copenhagen, DK)
MIA-LIS (Lisbon, PT)
MIA-IE / LOWW), Austria">VIE (Vienna, AT)
MIA-DUB (Dublin, IE)
MIA-SNN (Shannon, IE)

Africa:
MIA-DKR (Dakar, SN)
MIA-LOS (Lagos, NG)
MIA-CPT (Cape Town, ZA)
MIA-JNB (Johannesburg, ZA)
MIA-NBO (Nairobi, KE)

Asia:
MIA-DXB (Dubai, AE)
MIA-AA), Japan">NRT (Tokyo, JP)

In addition, I would like to see our current long-haul one-stop service (AA's MIA-RU / SBGR), Brazil">GRU-ASU, MIA-RU / SBGR), Brazil">GRU-CNF, and MIA-EZE-MVD, and LY's MIA-EWR-TLV) become non-stop.

All the above mentioned routes definitley have a lot of potential to work out very well. Of course, in the next few years, no more than 5-10 of them will come into fruition.

I would like to see 'SkyTeam' flights:

Imagine if you will:

DTW-CVG-GRU operated by DL, as an NW codeshare 1-stop in CVG (pick up CVG pax) on a B-763Biz.

The a/c would go:

ATL-DTW (domestic flight)
DTW-CVG-GRU (Brazil flight)
GRU-CVG-DTW (return)
DTW-ATL (back to ATL as a domestic flight)

And have Contiental Express operate ERJ flights from Sao Paulo to the following cities as SkyTeam flights feeding NW, DL, and CO flights into GRU:

EZE
GIG
MVD
ASU
CNF

I know there is a lot of political hocus-pocus required for these dream routes..

Well from my home town airport of YOW, I would love to see AC add a YOW-FRA route to complement the existing YOW-LHR route. FRA would be an attractive route because AC passengers could easily connect to a Star Alliance code share with Lufthansa. FRA is also a lot more friendly that LHR. Ideally I would also love to see a resumption of the YOW-SJO route that was operated during the heady days of the High Tech explosion.

I would love to see "non stop" International service:

YVR - MIA
YVR - IAD

Air Canada operates YVR-MIA every winter (this year through 18Apr04; resumes 06Nov04):
AC 938 YVR 2055-0533+1 MIA
AC 939 MIA 1200-1537 YVR

And they operate YVR-IAD every summer (this year 01May04 through 31Oct04):
AC 696 YVR 1505-2307 IAD
AC 699 IAD 0745-1018 YVR

And another non-stop service to JFK other than Cathay Pacific!

Again, Air Canada, year-round:
AC 320 YVR 1450-2250 JFK
AC 321 JFK 0730-1054 YVR

Ahe...

My mistake,

I should have clarified that those routes would be nice on the F9 Widebody love, but since I changed my post halfway into writing it, some minor details were left unfixed.

LHR operates as a BA 777, and FRA operates as LH 343, or 744 in summer.

Sorry 'bout that.

I would love to see Ryanair start to fly to "Frankfurt-North" by starting to serve Siegen, Germany (SGE) from STN.
Well even better would be having Air Berlin or so come there... Destination: Anywhere!

Personally, I'd like to see Air New Zealand (NZ) fly a codeshare with Varig on the following:
Melbourne - Auckland - Buenos Aires - Rio de Janeiro and
Melbourne - Auckland - Santiago - Rio de Janeiro
Once a week each with NZ 744's.

As well as:
Auckland - Melbourne - Johannesburg
Twice weekly with NZ 744's.

And:
Auckland - Hong Kong - London
Daily with NZ 744's.

Also:
Auckland - San Francisco
Thrice weekly. NZ 744's again.

A non-stop Chinese destination from Auckland appears logical too - Shanghai or Beijing, maybe both.

We'll see what the planners at NZ have in store.
come visit the south pacific

PSE-SDQ (Air Santo Doingo)- PSE would need a customs area for this flight, but it would be worth it.
SJU-BOG (Avianca)
SJU-CDG (Air France)
SJU-LGW (British Airways)
SJU-CUN-MEX (Mexicana)
SJU-GRU (Varig)
SJU-PAP (American Eagle)
SJU-LIM-SCL (Lan Chile)

I've thought of another:

EDI-FCO AZ
Also like to see Duo start codesharing with Swiss/AZ on their routes EDI-Zurich EDI-MXP that would increase passenger numbers on those services!
